Little acts of kindness can make my day better so I try to show it to others every chance I get. And after this week in the headlines, this post couldn’t be more relevant. I teach my children about respect, inclusivity and love and that they should practice kindness each and every day. From childhood on up to adulthood, we have all been on the receiving end of some sort of intimidation or bashing but with social media and the anonymity of the internet these days it seems like we are surrounded by a lot more negative energy and hurtful behavior.
I try to set a positive example for my kids and come from a place of love. Ryder experienced a bit of bullying at school a few years back and I know kids will be kids but there is no excuse. Parents should always teach their children kindness and love. It starts with us and grows with our children.
Having a public job and being active on social media opens me up to a lot of criticism from readers, trolls and sometimes even fellow influencers and moms. On my blog I open up about my motherhood experiences, the trips we take and the exciting events we participate in. I am also open and honest about very personal things and struggles I have gone through as a mom, a wife and a woman. As much as I try to keep my head up, I take every negative comment to heart. As women and entrepreneurs we should be lifting each other up and supporting each other, not dragging each other through the mud. Words hurt—but a few words can also turn your day around—even turn your life around!
The Kindness Rocks Project mission is simple, one message at just the right moment can change someone’s entire day, outlook, life. Founder, Megan Murphy (who is a mom of three, a kindness activist, women’s empowerment coach, meditation instructor and creativity enthusiast) started the project after an inspirational note she wrote on a random rock and left behind on the beach in Cape Cod was discovered by a friend and changed that friend’s whole day.
This fated moment inspired the Kindness Rocks Project—write a kind and inspirational note on a rock and let it change someone’s life. The big goal is that if we all are kind, the world will be a better place.
Kindness Rocks Project is a fun, artistic and creative way to get your kids into the habit of being kind every day. I truly believe that if my children can understand how a few simple words can change someones day or even their life, then they will be more mindful of what they say and do. They will show love and kindness every day in small and big ways.
The Kindness Rocks Project is growing and taking hold with a Kindness Rocks Curriculum, where you can cultivate kindness in the classroom and teach, learn and grow with your students. Megan also offers talks and skype sessions to inspire kids to be kind. So many people have been touched by the Kindness Rocks Project that Megan has a book coming out sharing different stories and experiences! Kindness is contagious so why not practice every day and pay-it-forward with a message on a rock for someone to discover!

Those are so adorable. we have a few kindness rocks we pass around from the kids to adults and friends, it’s such a great way to spread happiness. I am all about doing random acts of kindness and these are pretty ways to do it!
Last summer, this was huge in my community. It faded away a bit with the school year but we’re excited to start it up again!
