How To Care For Your Little Ones Lovie

This is a sponsored post by Lysol. Thank you for supporting SITC.

Spring cleaning in my apartment is pretty thorough, I leave no stone unturned and I try to eliminate my sentimental attachments in an effort to de-clutter. When you live in a small space purging is a requirement, BUT one thing I can never seem to purge is my kiddos ever-growing collection of stuffed animal and lovies. And don’t even get me started on their favorites. My kiddos have a few sacred (and unsightly) stuffed animals that they simply cannot live without. How To Care For Your Little One's Lovie | Stroller In The CityI remember having a lovie growing up that was so shredded and destroyed my mom had to take the little piece that was left and sew it into a new blanket. My kids each have a favorite stuffed animal and I’ve definitely come close to tossing them all during one of my wintertime germ-cleaning freak-outs.

I have washed Gemma’s favorite little love so many times I am shocked the stretched-out stitches are even holding the stuffing in place. When I think of it, I can’t throw it away, right? I mean—she has loved this little thing so long. Despite the occasional images flashing in my head of that lovie taking multiple dives into every dirty NYC sandbox or holding the gross pole on the subway, I keep it around because I know how much she loves it. I still cringe thinking of the places that thing has been.

Luckily, Lysol has come to the rescue for all of those lovies and stuffed animals out there. Lysol® Laundry Sanitizer is a one-of-a-kind product that is safe to use on washable fabric items, like a little lovie, and kills 99.9% of bacteria that regular detergents may leave lingering behind, when used as directed. I am the expert laundress of my household, but I was shocked to find out that even washing stuffed animals with regular detergent does not kill all bacteria, including harmful bacteria that can cause skin infections like staph. Lysol Laundry Sanitizer helps eliminate the bacteria that normal laundering doesn’t.

Cleaning and sanitizing our kiddos’ little treasured stuffed animals is a challenge, and that’s why Lysol® and DIY extraordinaire Mandi Gubler (of the blog Vintage Revivals) have partnered for the Teddy Repair Initiative to help us parents protect, repair and sanitize our kiddos’ most prized and beloved possessions. As a mom and a handy DIY expert, Mandi Gubler knows all about the importance of restoring and reviving things. She has a bunch of tips, tricks and hacks to help mom’s care for their little one’s little one at home, you can find them HERE.

I feel so much more confident keeping these little stuffed animals in my kiddos hands knowing that at the end of their daily adventures they are 99.9% free from harmful bacteria. I’ve actually been using Lysol Laundry Sanitizer in every single wash and my laundry has never been so clean!

  1. I don’t have any little ones yet but this looks like worth checking out as I am always on the lookout for good laundry products.

  2. My mom used to use Lysol when I was a kid. I remember it was in a brown bottle, and I didn’t care for the smell! I’d love to give this a try, as it seems to have a better and fresh smell
