Last weekend, I was super honored to host a reading at the Gap, to celebrate the launch of BabyGap’s new collaboration with Mr. Men Little Miss. Gap introduced a limited edition collection, featuring some of the beloved characters from the iconic children’s books created by British author Roger Hargreaves.
The event took place in 20 other Gap stores across the country, in partnership with Milk + Bookies, a charitable organization that celebrates reading and provides books to under-resourced families.
I read two of my favorite stories from the Mr Men Little Miss collection; Mr. Strong and Lil Miss Sunshine, to a room filled with lots of children, including my own. During the event, attendees previewed the sweet new collection, enjoyed refreshments and cookies, coloring activities, and took part in a book drive benefiting a local Boys & Girls Club.
The Gap collection includes onesies, bibs, blankets socks and hats, all designed with Mr Men Little Miss’ signature bright colors and bold lines. Many of the series’ original characters make an appearance including Mr. Bump, Little Miss Hug, Mr. Happy and Little Miss Giggles. In addition, this collaboration introduces two new, specially created characters; Mr. Gap and Little Miss Gap, based on Gap founders Don and Doris Fisher.
Reading is huge in our home, as it is the one time of day where we all sit together, so having my children there, to watch me read aloud these stories that they are so familiar with, meant the world to me. Sure, I am always proud of them, but this time, I think they were proud to have their mama in the front of a room full of people reading aloud. The collection really is super cute, and this afternoon of fun made for a great day.
