Virtual Urgent Care at NYU Langone Health

This is a sponsored post. Thank you for supporting SITC.

Is it just me, or do all my mama friends out there feel like they are constantly visiting their pediatrician? There are some weeks where I see our pediatrician multiple times, and it’s usually not for anything serious. Sometimes it’s just for a simple rash or runny nose! And in those commutes to and from the pediatrician, I know my children could potentially pick up even more germs.

Well, I’m super excited to share that we may not be spending as much time in our doctor’s office anymore thanks to NYU Langone’s Virtual Urgent Care service, available for both adults and children 5 and older. With Virtual Urgent Care, an NYU Langone doctor can review you or your child’s medical records, evaluate troublesome symptoms, order any necessary lab tests and prescriptions, and more—all from my phone! Virtual Urgent Care is great for issues like cold and flu, mild fever, pink eye, rashes, cough, mild headaches, and more. Keep in mind that the service is not a replacement for regular doctor’s visits or yearly physicals — it’s helpful when you need a doctor for an urgent appointment. What I love is that if my kids aren’t feeling well, I can have them evaluated on my time, since Virtual Urgent Care is available at night and on the weekends.

As a busy mom of three, I understand how difficult it can be to make time in the day to get to the doctor for minor things. It can sometimes be a huge time suck, so I love the idea of being able to handle non-emergency medical concerns from home or on the go. All I have to do is make sure I am there with my child, as any pediatric visit requires a parent or guardian to be there too.

I also love that Virtual Urgent Care visits can be covered for the cost of a co-pay. It’s important to verify that you have specific benefit coverage for telemedicine services under your current insurance plan before using the service—you can check out the list of accepted insurances here.

Beyond Virtual Urgent Care, I can use the NYU Langone Health app to schedule appointments, find and message my doctors, and get prescription refills. With proxy access, I not only have access to my own medical record, but my children’s medical record as well, making it easier to manage my (and their) healthcare from anywhere.

With the cold weather settling in, and holidays and winter travel coming up, I’m excited to have this app on my phone. NYU Langone’s Virtual Urgent Care service makes it so easy for anyone in my family to be seen as quickly as possible that I can’t imagine using anything else. With the ability to see a doctor quickly and access my records or schedule an office appointment via the app, it’s easier than it’s ever been to ensure that my family gets the best medical care possible as quickly as possible. And what’s particularly great over the holidays is that I can access Virtual Urgent Care even if we’re traveling! I can video chat with a doctor from anywhere within the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT, PA).

To get started, download the NYU Langone Health app from the App Store® or Google Play™.

Here’s to wishing everyone a healthy and happy holiday season!

  1. This is going to make life SO much easier. It’s so much more convenient to be able to get healthcare like this that slogging around when you’re sick.

  2. That is exciting! NYU is one excellent medical option. My daughter had it for 4 years during her undergraduate degree. There is no comparison to what she has now at University of Michigan. A great option for parents too.

  3. It’s nice to hear they have this. I love it when you don’t have to leave the house. It really comes in handy because not everyone can get to a doctor right away.

  4. I think video chat is such a great idea so that you can don’t have to go out when you are sick. Or even yet, go out where there are others sick where you might catch something.
