Over the years we have designed and redesigned our living space to reflect our ever changing needs and specifically our growing family. Of course, before I actually had kids I had a vision of uniquely curated rooms and expensive furniture but fast-forward three kids later and that vision seems to have faded.
Small space living is a challenge and as much as I want to create an open space free of clutter and reduce the kid things, as a mother I understand the need for my children to feel like they are a part of our home. Children should still see their little touches around the house, even when square footage is limited. In a large home you can designate toys and stuff to play rooms and separate bedrooms but in a small space it is important to eliminate no-zones and integrate kid-friendly pieces and durable furniture.
The living room is very much the center of our home. My goal is to create an intimate and comfortable space for us to come together and a comfy couch is essential to that goal. For years we’ve had an oversized sectional but as the kids get bigger and their stuff accumulates our old couch seems to overwhelm the room.
I discovered a sleek but still comfortable and totally flexible sofa from Dorel Home Products. The Novogratz Vintage Tufted Split Back Sofa Sleeper is perfect for our needs It can lay flat for sleep but also doesn’t take up a ton of space. The color, style and size make the whole living room seem bigger and more open. And our space looks updated and new. I love it.
DHP furniture is available at plenty of retailers like Walmart, Target, Costco and online at sites like Amazon and Overstock. Visit dhpfurniture.com website for a full list of retailers.

That is a great space. I would love to hang out in there.
I love to redesign my living space. I do that quite often b/c I get bored with the same old thing. My mom did that too.
It’s great that you were able to find something comfortable that fit well with the room. I need to make some changes to my own living room too.
We are redesigning our basement playroom
And are in need of a lot of stuff like a couch etc. We want the playroom to be the centre for us so the kids can play, we can watch Tv down there etc! It’s a small space but are excited to tackle the smaller space! Your living space looks gorgeous!
Living in a small space, I am always up for a redesign. I need to check this brand out.
What a comfy sofa to have at home! I think it’s awesome and definitely something that’s perfect for families. I love the material and the style. Also, how awesome is your wall?! I love all the photos!
Ohhh, that needs to come home with me. I love the look of the couch, plus the color will hide some of the woes that come along with kids.
It’s nice that you got the couch. It looks awesome. I love the gallery wall behind it too.
This couch looks perfect and comfy. The living room is the center of the home, really nice and great choice for the family!
