Since my children were born, I’ve become very fond of photography. This mini passion has cultivated from a hobby into a creative outlet. The idea that I can capture all of these precious moments, which will be shared for years to come is something I thrive on. Completely self educated in photography, I am continuing to discover new ways to improve my skills, and have recently been experimenting with different lenses. All of my equipment is Canon, and I have come to appreciate that nothing quite compares when it comes to quality and color.
In addition to still photos, video recording has become an absolute must as a parent of three. These videos will become a piece of their history, and it is exciting to think that they can look back on my collection, while they reminisce about their childhood experiencing their sweet smiles and being able to hear laughter that I look forward to every day. I’ve always taken photos, but I have started to force myself to take as many videos as possible.
Today, I am thrilled to announce that Canon USA is once again partnering with Ron Howard to launch Project Imagination: The Trailer. This will be Ron Howard and Canon USA’s third iteration of their ongoing initiative to empower creativity in everyone. For the first time ever, your life can become a movie trailer and inspire a Hollywood film. The concept is simple- anything in life can be a movie,a snow day, a field trip, or just a day in the life, and every movie captures its audience and teases what’s to come with a trailer. Canon’s newly launched Trailer Editor Tool, allows users of all skill levels, including novices, to easily turn everyday photo and video footage into a movie trailer, with titles, Hollywood style voice-overs and epic soundtracks. The site also offers tiered options that enable people at any level of expertise to create and submit trailers into the contest. From first time camera users, to amateur film makers, consumers can use the Trailer Editor tool to auto-generate a trailer, have advanced features to create more customization, or upload a trailer that has already been independently edited.
I am very excited to have the experience of experimenting with Canon’s new Trailer Editor Tool. I can totally picture the kids and I playing dress up on a snowy day, while belting out the lyrics to Frozen, which is a daily in our home anyway. Trailer Editor Tool contains six themes, and your 60 second video must fall under: Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Children & Family, Sci-Fi, and Suspense/Thriller.
It doesn’t have to play in a theater to be a film. Check out this movie trailer, ‘Orchard.’ Made with footage shot entirely by Rick Marrone.
I look forward to collecting submissions, and if you are lucky, your trailer can inspire a Hollywood film starring Josh Hutcherson (star of The Hunger Games)! Come June, each submission will be judged by Ron Howard and Josh Hutcherson, based on creativity demonstrated through characters and storytelling, how inspiring or imaginative the trailer is, results from a public vote, originality and overall impression. Visit imagination.usa.canon.com for tips on how to create your original trailer and to create and submit yours today!
Thank you Canon for sponsoring this post.
