After our amazing date night experience with HowAboutWe last month, Jason and I were eager to see what the following month would offer. Lately, and especially after our HowAboutWe “first date,” we both realized how important it is to make time for one another amidst our crazy schedules. I would love a once a week date night, but it’s difficult to escape that frequently, especially with his schedule. In fact, he left yesterday for Los Angeles for three weeks, so I am glad we squeezed in one more date night.
For this date, I let Jason browse the HowAboutWe DateBook, to find a fun date activity, which was a nice change, because it’s usually my decision on where we go. He chose, and I was actually quite surprised, a Broadway play, “A Night with Janis Joplin”. The show is a limited time feature in their DateBook, only available until the end of November. As HowAboutWe members, we were offered almost a $100 discount on the tickets, as opposed to booking them elsewhere.
The show was on a Saturday night, but we decided to have dinner with the kids, and get them down, before heading out to the show, which I’m sure my babysitter was excited about. Upon arrival at the theatre, we were given not only the typical playbill, but also glow sticks, which was very appropriate, because for the entire show, Jason and I felt like we were at a rock concert. It was a musical journey celebrating the life of Janis and her biggest influences, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone, and Bessie Smith. Jason and I were both blown away by the performances.
I’ve already started thinking about our next date for the weekend that Jason gets back home. Since we are making a big effort to do this monthly ritual, I am excited we are members of the HowAboutWe site, as it makes booking dates for us not only easy, but super fun!
I’m so excited to share with you all that HowAboutWe is offering a promotion of a free 2 month membership for HowAboutWe Couples when you sign up HERE. This offer applies to new members only and expires 12/31/13.
