I know it’s only July, but we like to get a head start on back to school shopping for the new school year. My kids are at the age where they like to pick out all of their back to school essentials, which is fun for them. The backpack is the most important item because it carries all of their school supplies, making it essential to be of great quality. A durable backpack that is also cute can be a little more hard to come by than one might think. We’ve taken a look at everything out there to pull together a list of new arrivals for the school season. Whether you have college students, high school students or a little one in 1st grade, I’ve found backpack options for students of all ages. Let me know which of the school bags are your favorite!
Features
Firstly, we have to start with the most important category. The older your kids get, the more essential features are to a productive school year. Things to consider are compartments for different items to keep them the most organized they can be. These include water bottle pockets, adjustable straps, a padded laptop sleeve, chest strap, different pockets for smaller items and maybe even a matching lunch bag. High schoolers carry more than middle school students, so these are going to be something those kids will look out for, rather than maybe a more fun looking bag. If you have a small child, I recommend trying to find a matching lunch box and keep the bag to one giant pocket with the smaller in the front so you can keep yourself organized and not have to sort through a bunch of pockets.
Personal Style
Secondly, these are bags that will have daily use, so making sure your kids love them and they meet their individual needs are important. I like having us use backpacks for years to come, even if it’s for travel purposes. Different patterns and textures are a fun way to express yourself in the form of new backpacks and I recommend bringing your kids to shop for these since they are like shopping for clothes. They get worn every single day and the perfect backpack will be up to them. If they want a tote bag, rolling backpack or bag with flowers, that’s their personal style and they know themselves best.
Good Quality
Finally, this is the time to invest in a quality bag. It’s not ideal to keep buying new bags for a specific favorite feature or an improper fit. Go for a classic design and better material for a high-quality backpack that will be by their side for years to come. Think about thoughtful features, side pockets and quick access for items they need the most. Take a look at the school supplies list and match it with a bag that can carry all of that along with personal items. Kids get heavy loads of books and they need durable bags. I always say quality over quantity here!
