Can you even believe we’re already talking about back-to-school again? It feels like we just wrapped up the last school year, and now here we are. Shopping for supplies, refreshing routines, and getting everyone ready for a new start. Having my kids all be teens still feels surreal to me, and their needs have definitely evolved over the years, especially when it comes to backpacks and lunchboxes. It really feels like elementary school was just yesterday but we are looking forward to the new school season.
School backpacks are no longer just about carrying a few notebooks and school supplies. They need to handle laptops, sports gear, water bottles, and everything in between. These are everyday essentials that really need to hold up, so finding the right one is worth the time.

Especially for a high schooler who wants maybe more of a cool backpack than an elementary school option that might not have different organization or large compartment options. If you need to replace your backpack from the previous school year, pay attention to thoughtful features because it really makes a difference in book bags, especially for heavy loads with books. Don’t Forget the Lunchbox
Lunchboxes have come a long way, and finding one that fits your child’s routine is just as important. For younger kids, I love structured bento-style boxes that keep everything separated and easy to eat. For older kids, insulated lunch bags with enough room for snacks, drinks, and longer days are key. Bonus points for ones that are easy to clean and actually keep food cold until lunchtime.
Back-to-school shopping can feel overwhelming, but I always try to focus on pieces that will truly make everyday life easier. A great backpack and a functional lunchbox go a long way in helping kids feel prepared and organized and honestly, that sets the tone for the entire year.
