The best beach day includes time to peacefully read. I find books to be a great escape for a moment of time and a good book will stay with you for a lifetime. I can find it a bit distracting in New York City, but when we are out east at the beach, I can finally find time to read a new book on a great beach day. Last summer, I got around to a part of my summer reading list but with a bit more time now, I’m taking the perfect beach day to the next level with a beach read. The quiet life out east is something I look forward to in the summers and I’ve put together a list of books to bring to the beach, beach houses or your book club this summer.
Book Club Reads
Firstly, there’s nothing like a summer book club! I personally love a best new beach read for these because they feel so seasonal and relaxing. A lot of book clubs like to go for an Emily Henry or award-winning author book because you know you can count on them to be good. Some of my favorite books have been ones that feel like real life but they are totally fictional. The best part about book club is getting to talk through your thoughts on the reads and learn things you may have missed along the way to better understand another point of view in the book.
Sweet Romance
Secondly, one of my favorite beach reads is in the category of romance novels. These are great because they are almost like watching reality tv, you can just read and relax and it’s not something you need to be uber focused on every aspect of. It’s always about a young woman and some second chance opportunity. New releases are great in this category but there are so many that come out throughout the year that it’s not difficult to find one you know will be a good read. I think for the first time, I’m going to aim to find a book in a few different categories to bring with me to the beach throughout the summer. Not to mention the fact that the book art these days is so fun that these look amazing on an aesthetic book shelf.
Fun Book
Finally, you have to go for a book that you will look forward to reading. It’s no fun if you are bringing something very serious to the beach that requires a lot of serious energy. It’s hot this season and it’s a lot better to pass the time with a book you look forward to. If you’re into mystery, go for that, if you’re into comedy, try the latest novel. Think about all the items we bring to the beach. I know books are smaller than the large items but it is one extra thing to carry, so you have to make sure it’s something you are going to pick up when you are sitting out there.
