Ways to Support Breast Cancer Month

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a cause very cause to my heart, as I have had close loved ones diagnosed with breast cancer. A few years ago, I had the amazing honor of being an ambassador to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. 1 in 8 will be diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to always be an ally to all the victims, survivors, and family members effected by this disease. Finding a cure is an ongoing effort. Accordingly, did you know there are stores and businesses that donate to breast cancer research? These fundraisers bring us a step closer to a cure with each dollar. It’s an amazing cause to support, so I’ve pulled a few of my favorite items with proceeds that go towards breast cancer research.

Also, breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer. Staying on top of your own health is incredibly important, but giving your philanthropic support to make a meaningful difference and aid in breakthrough research is also something you should consider. Moreover, if you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of brands that have special collections with donations to community partners and non-profit organization that help with funding research for this type of cancer.

How to Help

Firstly, participate in a race! The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® is an education and fundraising event for breast cancer. The series of 5K runs and fitness walks raises significant funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement, celebrates breast cancer survivors and honors that who have lost their battle with the disease.

Shop

Buy A Headband

Specifically, we all know headbands are kinda my thing, and especially Lele Sadoughi headbands! This is one of the most stunning headbands I’ve ever seen and it’s even better that it helps a cause. Therefore, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 10% of all proceeds from our Pink Crystal Knotted Headband will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For instance, they perform life-saving research to someday be able to cure breast cancer. The support of breast cancer awareness month is important for some of the most critical needs, not only helping shop to have a portion of the proceeds go to amazing organizations such as The American Cancer Society, but contributing to innovative research and awareness for breast cancer now.For more information about BCRF, visit www.bcrf.org

Shop Fighting Pretty

Since 2013, Fighting Pretty has impacted over 17,000 women battling all types of cancer, all over the world. By sending mini gloves, beauty products, and inspirational notes, they made an incredible impact to remind women they are strong and beautiful no matter if they have hair, eyelashes, breasts, or not. Besides, they offer different collections to shop and show your support from Breast Cancer to Ovarian Cancer and more. Lest, support awareness and in turn, give life-changing support of charities and an important cause.

Bake It Happen

Finally, as you may or may not know, this wonderful campaign was started by my friend, Shari, of My Judy The Foodie and her sister, Stacy. Together, they founded Bake It Happen as a way to raise awareness of and find a cure for Metastatic Breast Cancer, or MBC. However, they lost their mother Judy to the disease, and they wanted to find a way to honor her and help save other families from the pain of losing a family member to this terrible disease. Furthermore, this year’s campaign is a direct donation. However, they do showcase ALL of the recipes from their past campaigns so that you may also bake and enjoy all year long!

Firstly, this beautiful headband comes with an even prettier cause. 10% of the proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society.
Secondly, it’s getting chillier out, so scarves are needed. This is a fantastic option, especially because they will be donating $50 to Breast Cancer Research Foundation with each purchase of this scarf.
Thirdly, jewelry with a purpose. Not only is this necklace from Lagos absolutely stunning but 25% for sales will be donated to BCRF!
You can never have too many socks! For example, buy Sticky Be’s Be Brave socks in support of breast cancer awareness.
For every purchase of a style in Rose Toile and Happiness Returns Pink, Vera Bradley will donate 20% of the purchase price to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.
Chaser now has a Breast Cancer awareness collection! Hence, 15% of all proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Research, which is amazing! Check out the whole collection.
Alex and Ani have a whole new line of bracelets, where 20% of the proceeds are donated to a charity of your choice! I love jewelry for a cause.
We’re big Stoney Clover fans over here! 25% of proceeds are donated to Pink Aid!
Have you tried hair care products from Christophe Robin? They feel so luxurious and leave my hair so refreshed! The company is donating $5 from every order of this bundle to the “Fake Hair Don’t Care” Charity.
Little Words Project has the most inspirational bracelets! Markedly, 25% of the net proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
There are a lot of great cancer walks to attend in support of this month. Henceforth, why not have the perfect shoes to promote awareness? 15% of sales are going towards the American Cancer Society!
Specifically, speaking of pink shoes, these are some I’ve had my eye on for awhile! And better yet, 20% of proceeds are going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Every woman needs a good bralette. And how cute is this one?! Moreover, 20% of the proceeds will be going to BCRF!
Finally, estee Lauder has a whole Pink With a Purpose collection that donates 20% of proceeds to BCRF. It’s a limited edition collection of favorites!

  1. Such important information in this article on how we can work on this health issue together. I would be proud to wear any of the items listed here!

  2. Thank you so much for sharing this! Breast cancer is so insidious. Anything we can do to help support research and a cure is what we should be doing.

  3. All of these items look great and I love when brands give back to support foundations that help out in a big way. It is so important to help fund research to look into things like breast cancer more.

  4. What a great way to support breast cancer research. Over here we participate in moonlight walks, bake sales, and even bigger events. It’s a cause close to my heart as my aunt was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, but, luckily, she only stages one so there is plenty they can do for her.

  5. I’m all about supporting breast cancer awareness and love that there’s a whole month where everyone else does too! Companies please keep donating part of your profits to this amazing cause (also never heard of Bake it happen, what an amazing mission/organization!)

What a poignant post about something many of us take a little to casually. I am already a fan of the socks and will register my support to the cause by procuring couple of pairs.
