Walking Into Fall
Our seasonal wardrobe swap starts to happen in October. It is when we start shifting our summer duds to the back of the closet and add some cold-weather pieces into the rotation. I start this transition early, so I can see what still fits the kiddos and what we need to buy. Any parent will agree kids grow like weeds—especially their feet! I am always on the hunt for new shoes for the girls since their style can range from sporty to dressy and everything in between.
Fall footwear for the girls (and me) must always include a new pair of boots and booties. Like I said, fall is my favorite season for fashion…the different fabrics and textures, the mild temperatures—perfect combo for fun and endless style choices.
The best way to transition those summer pieces into fall is with boots. Lightweight dresses and boots are a great way to inch your way into the colder months and it helps me get the most wear out of those adorable dresses before they grow out them!
We recently found a few great boots from MIA that are durable, stylish and so affordable (which is key for their rapidly growing feet!) The Annabeth Western Bootie is so cute (I am dying for this style for myself) and is perfect for jeans, leggings and dresses. The fringe detail is super cute and the stacked heel makes it easy to walk, run and play in.
Gemma’s MIA Karlin Boot is a higher knee-high style that will add a little extra warmth but still be flexible (with the elastic back) and comfortable (with the lug sole and padded foot bed). I also love the stud detail, it is a great contrast and dresses the boot up a bit. My kids can really be tough on their shoes, but these boots look like they will stand the test of time and hold up in our wild weather.
MIA footwear is available at many retailers, but we found these cute (and affordable) boots at Nordstromrack.com and are available in little kid and big kid sizes in several different colors. Better start enjoying the fun fall fashion now because before you know it we’ll be traipsing through a foot of snow!
