August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month and what that means is that there is more awareness for some amazing benefits to breastfeeding as new moms. We think one amazing thing about this month is all the resources that are readily available to any first-time mom who might be seeking help or has questions regarding breastfeeding or breast milk. Fed is always best so what ever option you go for with your little one is the best option for you! But we will take any reason to celebrate moms and their amazing strength. All moms are superheroes! In honor of this month, we wanted to pull together items we think are a good idea to have on hand for a new baby this upcoming season.

Gear
Firstly, the gear can get pretty pricey, so if you have a shower coming up, it’s a great idea to put these items on! We’ve had most of our gear last all three of our kiddies so we definitely got use out of it all. For instance, a stroller, car seat and baby carrier are items that we feel are gear every new mom needs. In early days, especially.
New parents quickly learn how hard it can be to get stuff done. A good stroller for nice long walks is more than essential for a baby but for the parents as well. You can get a few steps in for mental health! We love a small bassinet with a great quality baby monitor, as well. These are important items for sleep. Furthermore, baby bouncers can also help you get household chores or work done. You can bounce them while you are sending emails or folding laundry.
Accessories
Secondly, accessories are something you can never have enough of. Make a diaper bag checklist of the items you can’t leave the house without and go from there for shopping. You can have peace of mind knowing you didn’t spend countless hours trying to sort through websites and figure out what you need. There are so many good products on the market and if you have a teething baby, you know teethers are at the top of the list! We’ll add items for mom to this list as well!
For instance, a breast pump that is portable might be something you need if you travel often. Additionally, things like a nursing cover, a good nursing bra, portable changing pad and breast pads for sore nipples and postpartum recovery are huge. There are a lot of sleepless nights and it’s the perfect time to get some of the items before the baby comes. Milk leaks are inevitable and being prepared for a newborn baby will give you so much relief.
Necessities
Finally, this is where things like swaddles and a burp cloth come into play. You will go through so many of these that you honestly can never have enough! These make for a great gift on a baby registry as well. We loved a sleep sack for when they were a bit older than newborn so they were past swaddling but still had something to keep them snug and warm.
Another essential item is a sound machine. It’s a great addition to their night routine and also they make so many for on the go if you need them while walking or traveling.
