Almost two years ago, I was in Costa Rica for the first ever ROAR conference. That trip I will remember forever, as it built lifetime friends, boosted my career goals, and was quite inspirational. I realized that little trip was just what I needed to feel refreshed and renewed, and I’ve been longing for a similar experience.
This past weekend, I flew to Scottsdale Arizona, for another gathering. This time it was just fifteen of us. Some old friends from that actual conference, as well as some new faces that I’ve actually sort of known through our social media world.
The huge house that served as our home for the weekend was beyond gorgeous, fully equipped with every amenity, so much so, that I would probably consider renting it in the future for a family getaway. Everything was organized by my dear friend, Nadia, founder of Child Mode, who prepped and perpared every dairy free, grain free meal. The cuisine and menu inspired me so much, that I was actually making the same recipes for my kids on Monday morning.
Part of our agenda included sessions where we gathered discussing our businesses, what works and what doesn’t. We contributed, gave advice, solved each other’s issues. For me, it was magic. The similarities in what we all do for a living, contrasted by our nuanced differences and experiences, opened my eyes in a different light, to many things I deal with on a daily basis. These women are truly my people.
Sure, this may have been a work retreat, but we definitely found time to relax, enjoying our Southwest surroundings. There was morning hikes (Check out All For The Memories tips to hiking in Sedona) and yoga too. Funny thing when I was face-timing with the kids, they saw the two floats in the pool, and were going back and forth about which one I should float on, they chose the pretzel.
My time away wasn’t nearly as long as I wanted (or needed!) but it was just the right amount of love, motivation, and inspiration that I needed. From the minute I walked onto the plane, I absorbed everything learned, and began to implant portions of that into my work life, even home life. Feeling super blessed for this weekend, and having the opportunity to call these girls my friends. These are some bad ass bitches you guys; I mean masterminds!

What a GORGEOUS place! Everything about it looked amazing – the weather, views, friends, food, house! I want to gooooo.
I would love to go on a trip like this with friends! Scottsdale has always been a place I would love to visit! Glad you were able to get away for a bit.
The yoga/cactus picture is awesome! I have never been to Scottsdale, nor Costa Rica for that matter. I’d love to go in the winter, when it’s dreadful up here in New England, and just totally have an awesome time.
I have been to Arizona in my College days. I would love to go back to that area especially when it gets cold here in winter.

Scottsdale is an amazing place. Arizona is great, but Scottsdale just has something special to it. I can tell you had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing!
