Creative Play For The Holidays

Is it just me, or have the holidays arrived super early this year? Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but yet we’ve already visited Santa and even been to Radio City to see the Christmas Show! Regardless of their falling early or late, the holidays are a special time of year for so many reasons, but mostly to witness the magic come to life for my kiddies. I know the Christmas’ with Santa are numbered, so I am cherishing each and every one of them! Siella and Gemma have been drafting their Christmas lists for the Big Guy, and Siella has gone as far as to hand Santa a sealed envelope, when we saw visited him last week!

Luckily, I sneaked a peek at her list before it was signed and sealed and delivered to the North Pole. Included in her wishes, and no surprise to me were lots of crafty items. Both girls are super into toys that involve creativity. One example from her list was makeup set, so I started to research online, and stumbled upon MindWare Science Academy. They offered a Lip Balm and Gloss Lab set, which are kits that actually allow you to make Lip Balm, and even a Bath Bomb Lab Set!

MindWare science games introduce the laws of chemistry, physics, engineering, biology, botany and more. You can build robots, grow crystals, explore the cosmos, and experiment with chemistry sets. I know my kids will spend hours exploring these science toys, all while they’re actually learning something.

Over the weekend, I busted out the Bath Bomb Lab and Lip Balm set for the girls, and they flipped. I just couldn’t wait until Christmas, but that’s ok, because I already have the Gloss Lab set hiding in my closet, along with a Soap Kit, and Robot Lab for Ryder!

The girls are obsessed with lip balms and glosses and can spend hours on any given day trying on makeup, so this Lip Balm set was totally in their element. Our kit included everything needed to blend our own signature balms, experiment with fruity flavorings and learn about common ingredients! The final product was incredible – a shimmery pink color, that they’ve worn everyday since. I like the color so much, that I may even wear it!

Next, it was on to our Bath Bomb Kit. I don’t know about your kids, but mine still love baths, and a good bath bomb is all the more fun. Now with Mindware, they can make their very own! This was so up Siella’s alley, and she loved getting her hands dirty while making these. The kit offers multiple recipe options to experiment with, so you can choose the colors and scents, or even the ability to create a super bath bomb by shaping many different sizes. Its so cool that kids can learn about unique chemical reactions occurring within the creation, but then it can be used safely in their bath water!
