It’s no secret we are excited for the holiday season! One thing we do as a family tradition is Christmas tree decorations right after Thanksgiving. Christmas ornaments have come a long way and I’m so impressed year after year at all the fun new additions. We like to stick with a color scheme and add a few fun winter wonderland pieces to our Christmas tree. Artificial tree or real tree, Christmas decorations work for any kind of tree branches. Add a star or angel at the top of the tree, some white lights and you are all ready for the season! These are our favorite ornaments to add a personal touch to y9our tree this season.
Color Scheme
Firstly, if you like to stick with a color scheme to match your tree to your current home decor or seasonal decor, start there. A lot of people go for reds and greens as they are the official holiday decor tones we look to each season. There’s something so magical about the holidays and associating them with these colors has given me excitement year after year. What ever color scheme you go for, it’s always fun to match the wrapping paper to it to make your home feel like a photo straight out of a magazine.
Pop of Color
Personally, we love a pop of color on our tree. You already know for us it’s shades of pink, but if you have a natural look and want to add pops of red or green, it creates a special moment for the holidays. A specific theme can feel like a lot for some people and trees with personality can be fun, as well. Nothing needs to be perfect but the tree is center stage. So what you put on it should be something you not only love but can also see yourself using over and over again for seasons to come. A fun way to add a pop of color is with decorated ornaments. Skip the solid glossy tones and add either smaller ornaments or heavier ornaments that are a personal connection to you. For instance, a bright yellow taxi might work for New Yorkers! Another way to add a pop of color is with your lights to add to the tree!
Natural Colors
Finally, for those that want to match their string lights and trees to their home decor, stick with neutral tones of different shades. Bring dimension to your tree with different whites, ivories, creams, metallics and mattes. Annual ornaments are things we save to use year after year. Our family likes to add a few fun pieces to our ornament sets. For example, if you have a natural tree, adding in different finishes of the ornaments as well as various sizes can not only add dimension to your tree and space, but create a visual effect that is aesthetically pleasing. Different materials can be fun to play around with as some enjoy adding different pops of color.
