Baby’s First Ride

Child birth is the one of the most compelling times in your life. I remember vividly each one of my children’s births; all so different, yet equally joyous. I was fortunate enough to experience on three separate occasions. It’s funny how I can remember so clearly each birth, and each time a sibling met one another for the first time, but the rest of the time spent in the hospital are a total blur. In fact, looking through all of the photos from each birth, it seems I hardly have any on the days we came home.

I was recently chatting with a soon to be new mama, when she asked me how I took my children home from the hospital. It took me a while to remember, but I recalled that two were actually transported in a New York City yellow taxi. When we had Ryder, we didn’t own a car, and there was no choice to take a taxi home from the hospital. After 5 days in the hospital following my C section, I couldn’t wait to get home, and start my journey into motherhood. Traveling home from the hospital was always the furtherest thing on my mind, and it left us scrambling the final hours in the hospital all three times. Everything had been timed and planned except transportation.
