It’s no secret that lobster rolls are a signature summer food on the east coast. There are so many locations, that it can be difficult to settle on a great spot. When it comes to the perfect lobster roll, it’s all about balance in ingredients, I’ve had some with too much mayonnaise and some that are too dry. Luckily, I’ve tried what feels like every place and have settled on a list of the best lobster rolls in the Hamptons.
Clam Bar
This place calls itself a landmark in the Hamptons, and I’d have to say that I agree! This is a great place to go if you’ve got a group of people and everyone wants something different. Even picky eaters can find something they’ll enjoy here! The menu has a variety of choices ranging from their famous lobster blt to New England clam chowder to chicken tenders. They also have a beyond burger for any vegetarians! They’re celebrating their 40th anniversary this summer and will be debuting a brand new late night menu and surprises all summer!
Ed’s Lobster Bar
This restaurant has both a Sag Harbor location and an NYC spot! Their roll has the perfect amount of mayo and is served on a toasted and buttered bun with housemade pickles and fries. The menu also features a raw bar. So if you’re in NYC and can’t make it out east this summer, this is a great spot for you to try a lobster roll!
Duryea’s
Located in Montauk, not only does this establishment have a phenomenal lobster roll, it happens to have an absolutely stunning view. The menu features a raw bar, shared plates and of course, an incredible lobster roll. What’s better than fresh seafood on the water?! I highly recommend this spot to go to with friends!
Ruschmeyers
This hotel located in Montauk has a great restaurant with a dreamy lobster roll. The lobster is butter poached and served on a toasted brioche bun. It’s a super cute, beachy place and they have great cocktails. Grab some friends and go!
Citarella
Citarella is the freshest market! I love everything there, but did you know they have great lobster roll kits? The kit serves 6 and the ingredients come on fresh brioche rolls and are a great option to bring to the beach or over to a friend’s place. The balance of mayo to lobster meat is perfection. You have to try them!
The Dock House
This eatery is located in Sag Harbor and has an amazing view of the water! They are located on the wharf and have a fresh fish market. This is one of the freshest lobster rolls I’ve ever had! The menu also features their award winning clam chowder and plenty of seafood options.
The Seafood Shop
This super cute spot is a hot commodity when it comes to their lobster rolls! It’s in the style of a chilled lobster salad on a potato hot dog but, but they go fast for take out! The menu features incredibly fresh seafood with great sides. You can even get a lobster salad wrap. This is a must go!
Bostwick’s Chowder House
This restaurant is super cute and has such a fresh, tasty menu. You can choose between a lobster salad roll or a buttered lobster roll and what’s really unique about this place, is that they serve a clam roll! They have a kids menu, hamburgers, salads and buffalo wings if you’re with anyone who’s not into seafood, but if you’re gonna try seafood for the first time- this is the place to do it because they have so many options!
Gurney’s
Gurney’s resort in Montauk is absolutely breathtaking. The views and amenities are phenomenal. And what’s really great, is their lobster roll! You can find it at their restaurant, Tillie’s! The menu gives you the option to order it with regular mayo or a spicy sriracha mayo, now! Served on a warm brioche bun, this roll is what dreams are made of!
Baron’s Cove
This beautiful resort in Sag Harbor has a restaurant with an amazing lobster roll! The roll is perfectly buttery and served on brioche, it is downright mouthwatering. The menu has a ton of options and the aesthetic is stunning. Book a stay here or go for dinner!
The Lobster Roll-Lunch
This is a fun place to go in the summer for a lobster roll! They have a bunch of picnic tables that you can eat at and enjoy your food. It’s a laid-back vibe with amazing lobster rolls. The portions are perfect and they even have a gluten-free menu! And who doesn’t love a good crinkle fry?! Grab a roll to go or take a seat and relish your meal!
John Scott’s Surf Shack
Located in Westhampton, this establishment is summer perfection with its signature lobster roll and waterfront patio. This is a great family spot for a fresh meal and they have a kids menu, as well. They have frozen drinks and fun dessert options. JSSS is a must go!
MTK Lobster House
You can find this establishment in both Montauk and Sag Harbor this summer! You can choose between their Montauk lobster roll, which is served cold with a mayo and celery base, or their Lighthouse lobster roll, which is served warm with butter. The menu ranges from quesadillas to burgers to their famous lobster rolls- everyone can find something they like here! Grab your family and friends and run to this casual restaurant!
K Pasa
This American Taqueria is the most unique place on this list. They serve a lobster roll in the style of a wonton taco! Such a fun twist on a traditional lobster roll. It’s out of this world! They are family friendly and offer a variety of food options like their special cheeseburger empanada. You can find them in Sag Harbor.

DIY Lobster Roll at Home
Finally, if you’re out east or in NYC, you have to go to my favorite gourmet market, Citarella! They have the freshest ingredients, so you can get everything to whip up the lobster roll of your dreams, all from home. This is also a great meal to make for any guests you might be hosting. Grab everything from the store to keep it in your fridge for a lobster roll whenever you have a hankering for one.
