The fact that it’s officially approaching sandal season is so exciting to me! New York City has been taking too long to warm up lately, but I’m not waiting any longer. It’s been a long winter and I am ready for the warmth of the summer! I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect summer sandals for what seems like months! It’s something I have been daydreaming about. Do you ever see the ‘free shipping’ button and just go crazy online? In recent years, I’ve decided to step out of my comfort zone with shoes because I’ve decided that accessories and fashion are a form of self expression. So if I see a pair of shoes I think I can style well with my wardrobe and busy lifestyle, I have to grab them!
These are my favorite sandals going into the summer season:
Practicality
Firstly, when it comes to buying a pair of sandals, practicality is the most important aspect. Don’t shop for shoes that will never make it out of your closet. Get the best use out of your money, especially if you live in a climate with limited summer weather. Be honest with yourself when it comes to your shoe purchases. If you live a lifestyle that is go go go, maybe you need more comfortable shoes that will get you from point a to point b. Never underestimate heel height, if you need to try them on in store or return them because of this, that is okay! Moreover, if you have major events like weddings this summer, go for the dressier sandals for those special occasions. Specifically, are you traveling this summer and need travel shoes, outdoor sandals, arch support or a comfortable footbed?
Trend
Trends can come and go but the perfect summer wardrobe does exist. Having a fun statement shoe never hurt anyone! There are so many different styles of sandals that are on trend this summer, and a lot of them seem to be elevated classics. For example, wedge sandals with a lucite touch. Some on-trend pairs at the moment are platform sandals, bright colors as well as neutral hues, gladiator sandals in the sense that they lace up your leg and chunky platforms. Personally, I love a good platform sandal. If it’s pink, that’s even better!
Budget
Finally, this can definitely go along with practicality, but budget-friendly options are a great idea if you live in a climate where you only get the opportunity to wear sandals a few months out of the year. If you have a big event and you want to splurge, that’s something to consider, as well. Moreover, I think if you’re purchasing an everyday type of sandal, you can totally push the budget a bit, knowing you will get a ton of wear out of them. Luckily, there are so many different types of shoes at all price points these days, so it’s not difficult to find things like amazing dupes or just sandals in general that you really enjoy and will get great wear out of.
