Tis the season for staying warm indoors by snuggling up on the couch and many movie nights! Itโs my most favorite time of the year. Our family just loves a good movie night in our house, and having a DIY project to go along with it is right up my girls alley. This past weekend we had an Abominable movie night and it was just the perfect way to spend some quality time as a family. The film is now on Digital, and available on Blu-ray and DVD December 17.
My husband, kids, and I have always loved watching animated films together. Weโve done it ever since the kids were babies. Over the years, weโve seen a lot of great ones, but Abominable absolutely ranks among our top five if not our absolute favorite. The animation style is so adorable, and we all loved the message behind the film. Of course, kids being kids, my children just see the entertainment, but my husband and I also see the message of friendship, bravery, and doing the right thing, and I think thatโs an important lesson to teach children. A little positivity goes a long way! Watch the trailer below:
Now that Abominableis out on Digital, my family and I are geared up for a fun movie night complete with DIY cupcakes inspired by Everest the yeti to make this one epic night of yeti-tastic entertainment.
Here’s how to make Abominable movie night cupcakes! Start with your favorite flavor of cupcakes. My family loves vanilla, so I made a batch of those! Next, you’ll need:
- white frosting
- blue icing (I use dyed a portion of the white frosting)
- chocolate chips
- shredded coconut
- Pipping bag with wide tip
Now it’s time for the fun part and allow your kids to go wild! Start by frosting your cupcakes with blue icing to get the base!
Use your chocolate chips to make Everestโs eyes and mouth.
Next, itโs time to start pipping the face. Fill your piping bag with the white icing, and outline your yetiโs face. To make it easy for the girls, I told them to make a circle around the face, and a line to cut the eyes and mouth apart.
Add your shredded coconut where you put the white icing and make sure it sticks. You’ll have a bit excess and can just shake off at the end!
Youโll be surprised how this comes together and your cute yeti appears before your eyes. Siella and Gemma loved this project so much!
Abominable is available for digital download now, and will be on Blu-ray and DVD on December 17th. It features the film and extras including two original shorts! Itโs the perfect gift or stocking stuffer for any movie lover in your family โ young or old.
Big thanks to Tea Collection for sending us their limited-edition T-shirts in collaboration with Abominable. You can find the items they designed for the movie by visiting TeaCollection.com.
