Reading in our home is a major deal. Right before bedtime, each child chooses a book, and Ryder will start by reading one or two of the selections to his sisters. Both Ryder and Siella have reading logs each week, so our reading has become more regimented, since school has started full time. I always try to make reading fun, so we often visit the library, keeping the reading material fresh and interesting.
Recently, I was invited to co-host an event with Joe Fresh, and Library For All. The event will take place this weekend, at the Joe Fresh Soho location, here in NYC. Kids of all ages are welcome. They will have a chance to meet and spend time with author of some of our favorite Biscuit book series, who will read stories to the children. While attending the event, Joe Fresh will offer a 25% discount on clothing for the entire family and for every book sold, 20% will be donated to a child in need through the Library for All fund.
Library For All is committed to unlocking knowledge and opportunities for those in developing countries with limited access to educational materials. They have built a cloud-based library full of e-books, in areas where books are scarce, but mobile networks are expanding. It is optimized for low bandwidth environments, easy to use, and will ultimately be available on any device. It is also significantly more cost effective and sustainable than building and maintaining physical libraries. Their content is curated for each site with on-the-ground partners to meet their specific, educational and cultural needs in the local languages. So far, they have launched in Haiti, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda, and will continue to expand to reach millions of individuals who want to learn and read.
I invite you all to join me this weekend for some Fiction meets Fashion, fun event for the kids with some reading, shopping the latest Joe Fresh collection, all while we have the opportunity to give to others in need! Details are below and I hope to see you there!
