Keepin Cool At The Beach

My family is the most content when at the beach. We could spend endless hours there, without getting bored, so when summer hits, it is a must to get to our feet in the sand, as often as possible. The only drawback to these is all the packing and schlepping of the gear to the beach. The kids are finally old enough to handle some of the small things. Gemmie handles the sand toys, Siella can now manage a boogie board, and Ryder takes charge of the umbrella and maybe a beach chair. But this leaves Jason and I with bulky beach blankets, chairs, towels, and what seems to always be two or three different bags for lunch, drinks and snacks.

I’ve always wanted to invest in some kind of wagon to put all of our belongings on and off the beach, but found something even better. The TrailMate Cooler from IGLOO is the Mercedes Benz’ of coolers, accommodating more than just our food and drinks. The Trailmate is a 70 quart cooler with all-terrain 10 inch wheels, that allow you to go from sandy beaches, to tall grass, or rocky trails. The rectangle shaped handle pops out while towing and has special glide technology that reduces towing effort by fifty percent, which means I’m actually able to take this on the beach myself, without Jason’s help.

The Trailmate offers some cool features that you will not find on traditional coolers. The suspended interior food basket to keep food items cold yet dry. Theres a butler tray offering a multi-purpose serving surface, and conveniently stores under the lid when not in use. The kids love this feature, using it every time they eat their sandwiches, making lunch less sandy. Jason has been totally geeking out on the dry storage compartment, which holds small electronics, money and wallets; and the exterior storage slot, that is ideal for sunscreen and bug spray. The four self-draining drink holders molded into the lid keep their drinks in place. Bungee tie-down loops on top help you utilize the cooler to haul your towels, quad chairs, & other bigger items. Once at your site you have accessory holders add to support beach umbrellas, or fishing rod holders. Another little attention to detail would be the media slot on the cover, that can hold a phone or tablet, for a movie night during your outing.

We’ve been at the beach all week, and the Trailmate by IGLOO has been a dream. Its housed all of our food, drinks and belongings inside and out, leaving me hand free to chase my crazies around the sand. And with the high temps, the specially insulated body have kept its contents on ice two days in a row. We’ve had such an incredible week, I may not want to leave. Here’s to keeping it cool at the beach!

  1. Oh you know I have coveted this trailmate since I first spied it somewhere on the Internet
I don’t even get to the beach that often – – but for watching soccer games & sitting on the sidelines at swim team it would be perfection!!!
