All my children loved to be swaddled. In fact, most babies do as swaddles are soothing and calming, and recreates the secure and cozy feeling of the womb. Swaddles have come a long way from when I first had Ryder, they weren’t many on the market and I remember the ones I did have never swaddled him tightly. I always resorted back to the dreaded hospital blankets which kept a tight swaddle but were such an eye sore. Now, with so many brands on the market, its hard to decide which ones hold a tight swaddle and keep the baby comfy. Here are some of our fav swaddles that Gemma approves of, meaning she actually sleeps soundly in!
1. Little Frock of Horrors – produces a collection of merino clothing and blankets that offers supreme couture comfort for little ones. I would never think to use wool on a baby but this blanket adapts to their body temperature keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer months. Not to mention the blanket is super soft and keeps a tight swaddle.
2. Nested Bean Zen Swaddle – has lightly weighted parts within the swaddle that apply gentle pressure on your baby’s sides and center to provide the comfort and security of being held. Touch or simulated touch is medically proven to calm babies by triggering a self soothing response. The Zen Swaddle combines the benefits of swaddling and touch to provide a time tested and truly safe, secure environment for your baby. Made of 100% cotton.
3. Munchkin – just came out with these multi-use blankets perfect for swaddling and come in beautiful paisley patterns. They feature corner loops that attach directly to a stroller, and is exclusively designed with a unique double layer center panel to provide extra support and warmth for your little one, while also offering better nursing privacy for mom. The stylish Swaddle Angel Blanket is designed with 100% rayon from bamboo.
4. Aden & Anais – uses delicate muslin fabrics that have a durable weave, making them super stretchy, and ideal for swaddling. The swaddles have a natural give that allows the blanket to be tucked snuggly around a baby without being overly restrictive. I use my swaddles for stroller or nursing cover, changing pad cover, burp cloth, tummy time blanket and more. And the more you wash them, the softer they become especially the bamboo collection.
