This past week, I had the most incredible and heartfelt opportunity of attending the annual First Candle Gala. The organization, close to my heart, is the leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to safe pregnancies and the survival of babies through the first years of life. Their priorities and goals are to eliminate stillbirth, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID).
First Candle partners with companies dedicated to their important mission: promoting safe pregnancies and the survival of babies through the first years of life. The evening, held at Guastavino’s, featured a live and silent auction and recognized the evening’s top supporters. One of which I had the honor of representing, Regal Lager for its sponsorship of the 2014 Childcare program. Proceeds from the touching evening will support the organization’s research, education, advocacy and family support programs.
Every day, First Candle donors raise money to fund research around the causes and prevention of stillbirth, SIDS and SUID. Furthering research is often the primary focus for families when a baby has died. The sudden, unexpected nature of the death leaves families with more questions than answers when it comes to understanding why their baby died. They also provide compassionate grief support to all those affected by the death of a baby through a dedicated crisis hotline.
I highly recommend pregnant mamas and new mamas to visit First Candle’s website for great articles and features on safe sleeping, as well as donating here to this incredible organization that helps and educates new parents.
Thank you Regal Lager for having me be a part of such moving evening.
