A Sweet Summer with Herbal Sun Tea

This is a sponsored post. Thank you for supporting SITC.

Summertime, as you know, is my absolute favorite season. I love the freedom and long, lazy summer days at the beach and pool. Everyone has their happy place, and my happy place is definitely the Hamptons. Come summertime, my family and I spend as much time out there as possible. We usually rent a house for a few weeks over the course of July and August and enjoy the suburban lifestyle. As much as I love living in New York City, having a house in the summer months is amazing. It’s incredible how much you appreciate a backyard, BBQ, and full-size kitchen!

A tradition of ours whenever we rent a home is making a childhood family recipe – herbal sun tea. Growing up, it was practically a family project to make this tea. I had so much fun helping my mom make this tea every summer. It was something my brother and sister always looked forward to, and everyone who visited our home in the summer months loved it too! I remember waiting impatiently for the teabags to steep in the sun over the course of hours, and then letting them cool off, before we could pour a drink. Now as a mom, I make that same herbal tea recipe with my kids, and watch them do the exact same thing I did as a kid. Except now, my recipe can be enjoyed with fewer calories compared to the full-sugar recipe with Truvia® Natural Sweetener!

The calorie-free sweetener has made my family’s herbal sun tea just as tasty without the sugar, and I call that a big win. Truvia Natural Sweetener comes in packets, a Spoonable Jar, and a new 17-ounce bag.

Herbal Tea Recipe:

8 cups water

5-6 herbal tea bags of your chose (we like to use a strawberry flavor)

1 lemon

1 cup of ice

1/4 cup Truvia Natural Sweetener

Steps:

Put 5 to 6 tea bags into a clean 2 quart container. Fill with water and cap. Place outside where the sunlight can strike the container for about 3 to 5 hours.

Move the container if necessary to keep it in the sun.

After 3-5 hours add in one freshly squeezed lemon, 1/4 cup Truvia Natural Sweetener, and 1 cup of ice.

Enjoy!

Check out Truvia for yourself, and start making all your sweet treats better, too.
