A Monterey Getaway to Absolute Beauty

Beyond excited to share my adventures from Northern California last week. The Monterey area of California is overflowing with natural beauty, amazing food and fantastic culture. There is a vibe that is very much its own thing. I’ve traveled to a lot of places over the years for both work and pleasure, and I have to say that Monterey is one of the best places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. Crashing waves, impressive cliffsides, and people who make you feel right at home. Monterey has all of that and then some. My trip was full of adventure, exploration, fine dining, and an absolutely luxurious hotel – a big plus on any trip. It’s a great place to add to your list between the beautiful views, wine tasting and beautiful beaches, Monterey is the perfect place to take your next trip.

Spa

While in Monterey, I made it a point to visit several of the best places the area has to offer, and in between, I made Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa my home base. This hotel was a wonderful combination of posh style and cozy comfort. Approaching the hotel, the first thing to notice is its location. It’s perched above the crashing surf of the Pacific Ocean, making for a dramatic scene that speaks of what you’ll find when you enter. It has a lovely combination of high style and laid-back comfort that makes for a relaxing and enjoyable retreat during your exploration of Monterey. This gorgeous hotel and spa offers a variety of room options and a spa that melts your cares away with everything from massages to facials. A spa day is always an excellent choice!

Classic Cars

If you love classic cars, be sure to check out Monterey Touring Vehicles. This classic car rental company allows you to enjoy California’s central coast in style. It’s an experience like no other with available cars like Corvette Stingrays, Mustangs, Malibus, the iconic Chevy Bel Air, and more. They even offer a 1937 Mercedes Landaulet Limousine complete with a chauffeur! It’s one of the best ways to experience the area by car that you’ll ever try. A short drive in a classic car down the California coast will surely make anyone’s day!

Winery

If you love wine, be sure to check out Folktale Winery in Carmel Valley. While there, I was able to tour the Barrel Room where the owner described the winemaking process. They even offered an interactive experience to make it even more memorable. Afterward, I enjoyed a delicious dinner in the Vineyard House. That’s just part of what you can enjoy. They also offer a folktale tour, private shopping, Sunday brunch, and much more. I had the best time learning about the wine making process and this ended up being one of my favorite spots from the trip!

Hiking

For outdoor lovers, Pfeiffer Falls Trail is a must-see. You might not think it to look at my blog full of fashion, but I actually love the outdoors. Thats’ why I wanted to take advantage of this beautiful trail while on my Monterey getaway. It’s a 1.3-mile out-and-back trail located near Big Sur. It’s an easy trail and takes just over 45 minutes to finish. It’s popular for both its ease and views, and it makes a great outdoor jaunt to get a little fresh air and take in the beauty of nature. I would say this is a prime location for hiking in the area!

Dining

While in Monterey, I also took time to head over to Aila Ventana Big Sur resort to enjoy their hour-long Macrame & Chardonnay event followed by a half-hour cocktail reception and delicious 3-course dinner at Sky Terrace. The resort is an amazing place offering a ton of outdoor space and beautiful accommodations that combine comfort, charm, and a rustic vibe perfect for those who like a place with big space and big personality.

Although their vibe is rustic-chic, don’t let it fool you into thinking this is a place only reserved for the outdoorsy type. Their events are posh, and Sky Terrace, their restaurant has some of the best dining I’ve ever enjoyed. It’s the perfect setting for panoramic views and full of absolute beauty. I would say this is a prime location for hiking in the area! Dining options are incredibly important on any trip and I highly recommend this place!

Aquarium

Finally, I made time to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This was by far one of the best aquariums I’ve ever been. I felt super guilty not being able to experience it with my kiddies. Whether you’re traveling solo or with family, the aquarium is a spot that can’t be missed in Monterey. This oceanfront aquarium is devoted to education and conservation, working to make the oceans safer and cleaner for all its inhabitants by helping the public understand the importance of our oceans and the animals that live in them.

I made sure to check out their new exhibit, “Into the Deep: Exploring Our Undiscovered Oceans”. Sea lions, seals, humpback whales and so many more marine animals can be seen! It showcases the wonderous creatures that inhabit some of the world’s most mysterious underwater places. I had no idea they had as much marine life as they do in Monterey, but I was delightfully surprised! Furthermore, this is definitely a must-see on your next family vacation!

If you’re planning a trip, I highly recommend taking your own personal Monterey getaway. Whether you enjoy solo travel or you have a family, Monterey has so much to offer. From the sandy beaches to the scenic drives to the local history, this seaside town is a great spot to book for your next vacation! It should definitely be at the top of anyone’s bucket list. Stay tuned for more of my California travels!
