Winter is just around the corner here in NYC, and might I add they tend to be extremely cold! Just yesterday a man told me while riding the elevator that the Farmers Almanac this year calls for a brutal winter with bone chilling temps. There is one staple I always have in my closet when battling these winters, and it’s a pair of UGG boots. Seriously! And not only for myself! When I had children, they were the “first” boots I purchased for them as I can trust the luxe sheepskin to keep their little feet warm. Every year it’s a no brainer that I stock up on them to get us through this season!
This past weekend, I was thrilled to have been invited by the UGG Australia team for an intimate in-store shopping spree at their Westchester Mall location, followed by a visit to the Scarecrow Invasion exhibit. Just in time for Halloween!
The UGG Australia store was stocked with so many fall styles it was so hard deciding which to choose. UGG Australia’s Fall 2013 collection for kids just bursts with personality. Filled with embellishments, fun prints and updated silhouettes, styles offer the comfort you would expect from UGG with major zest for your little ones. Siella immediately saw the pink Bailey Bow style and was sold. She was even more excited when the sales girl told her she could put a little bling on her shoe and chose an “S” and butterfly. Ryder went straight to the Classics in chestnut color, of course. For Gemma, we choose a new style called the Cassie Leopard in baby pink. Jason, who is always looking for the perfect shoe to wear to work; chose the Alin. And for me, my closet is filled with UGG Classics both Short and Tall, so this time I went with something a little different. The Bailey Button is a fresh take on the timeless style of the Classic Tall but features wooden logo buttons with elastic-band closures.
After our shopping visit, we then headed over to the Scarecrow Invasion at the Lyndhurst Mansion with our new UGG gear. During the month of October local school groups and businesses set up hundreds of scarecrows on the grounds of the Lyndhurst Mansion. It really is a site to see! After October is over, the clothing used to decorate the scarecrows is donated to the needy. UGG Australia had their own patch of scarecrows and the kids were able to create their own. They had so much fun putting on different clothing and masks resulting in some pretty funny scarecrows!
The Scarecrow Invasion and the Haunted Mansion is open throughout this weekend. Stop by if you dare!
Overall, it was the perfect family day for us! The kids had a wonderful time and are loving their new kicks from UGG.
