13 Family Fun Events To Visit In NYC This January!

Happy 2020!

I hope you all a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones. As we go into the new year  I’ve round up some super fun family events to kick off the new decade. Winter can be a tricky time with young kids and apartment living, but in New York City theres always fun to be had!  Whether you’re still trying to drag out the holidays a bit longer or pushing forth into the new year, these events will leave the entire family pumped for whats to come!

Museum Of Ice Cream

This imaginative exhibit will thrill all families of all ages. Enjoy the interactive playful rooms that include a sprinkle pool,  a three story slide, a pink MOSIAC subway, a magical floating sweets table, and more. Enjoy the signature ice cream flavors like “Queen Bee” and “Pinata”. Museum of Ice Cream is the coolest and most beautiful multi-sensorial experience there is!

Holiday Train Show

At the New York Botanical Gardens is their annual Holiday Train Show. Featuring over 175 famous New York landmarks naturally recreated from plant based materials. Its fascinating how the conservatory has harvested and recycled natural elements to create such breathtaking brooks, bridges, buildings, and mote! Enjoy the winter wonderland, crafts, carolers, etc… This is an excellent experience for all ages!

Broadway Week 

Take the family out for a show! Enjoy 2 for 1 tickets with exclusive broadway week codes. My kids absolutely love theater shows. Every year I make sure to snag us some tickets during broadway week so we can enjoy two special shows for the price of one. And with 3 kids thats a special  NYC offer I cant pass! At the top of my list this year is definitely West Side Story!

Snug Harbor Winter Lantern Festival 

With so many light festivals available to us New Yorkers, this is definitely a must. Festival runs into January 12th and includes over 1,000 lanterns, a skating rinks, tons of cultural performances, food options, a gift shop, and more. The Snug Harbor Lantern Festival is an excellent way to wrap up your holiday season in the most festive and magical way. Whether you take the ferry or a car, access to the location and its parking options are very easy for all festival goers.

Monster Jam

This event is like no other! Monster Jam comes with all the oh’s and aw’s your kids want from an exciting mind blowing show. Since I can remember Ryder has loved cars and trucks, and a show like this would have him so pumped up!  I know we would all love to see the all star challenge to watch the best of the best lay out their best tricks! Running for 3 days only get your tickets fast because these shows sell out!

Big Apple Circus

Running until February 2nd this is a New York favorite!  Your families will love the  high-wire aerialists, acrobats, jugglers, contortionists, a band and my personal favorite, rescue animals! I absolutely love that they incorporate rescue animals into their acts giving all their paw pals a second chance to life!  Located in a heated tent at Lincoln Center its the perfectly fun way to come inside and warm up from the winter chill.

A Night At The Museum

Experience at real night at the museum with your kids. Wander the halls of The American Natural History Museum after hours for exclusive tours and behind the scene perks. Guests will enjoy a 3D film about volcanoes and an exclusive space show to sleepover guests! This is a one of kind experience for all families in one of the country’s most iconic museums.

Sloomoo Slime Institute

Slime! What kid isn’t totally obsessed with slime? Well now NYC parents can avoid the slime at home and take their families to this sensory playground totally centered around this sticky favorite. Sloomoo is only in town for six months, so hurry over during these cold winter months and enjoy the super oozy fun!

SuperReal At Cipriani

Enjoy a 45 minute walk through an illuminated kaleidoscope! Children will witness Cipriani’s old architecture turn into an immersive and playful fantasy world. The experience will feature 5 visual concepts come to live through projection mapping. This is an event the pushes the way we see technology and entertainment.

Impulse

From January 6th to February 1st, The Garment District is hosting an art installation for families of all ages! This unique installation is comprised of 12 radiating seesaw for some truly magical winter fun. Located on Broadway between 37th and 38th the block will be temporarily closed to all traffic for this specific art experience.

Unicorn Dream Catchers Workshop

I feel like this is an event I wanna attend even as an adult! Hehe! Learn how to craft your very own colorful unicorn dream catchers with materials like ribbon, yarn, glitter, pom poms, etc… Attendees will all walk away with their very own unique whimsical piece of art. I absolutely love crafting with my kids and I think something like this workshop would the best way to spend a family fun afternoon.

 

Dreamland Roller Rink

Dreamland Roller Rink is one of NYC’s newest pop ups. Located in Downtown Brooklyn at City Point, this roller rink is like no other. Their events calendar is filled with family fun themed events. Their events included a LOVE party themed skate, Sparkle Skate, Toddler skating sessions, Dazzle Disco Family, and so much more. With winter brutally headed our way, I love having more super fun indoor options for my family. I cant wait to check out Dreamland Roller Rink and lace up my skates!

 

CAMP Hudson Yards

With its very popular original location in Flatiron, Im so excited to check out this new location option. The CAMP toy store experience is truly like no other. Good luck getting your children to leave! The toy selection is so well curated with tons of interactive science options, craft boxes, the best selection of children’s books, and more. Im always on the look out to see what the CAMP team will do next!

  1. Seems like a lot of cool things to look forward to in NYC this year. I wish I lived there and could get on the Broadway deal. I love live shows, so I’d make the most of that one!

  2. These look like some lovely NYC events to visit in January. I would love to take the kiddos back to NYC again, they went when they were super little with us. It’s a five hour drive though, so I’m waiting til warmer weather.

  3. I’m a huge fan of Ice Cream, hence my blog name, so I would love to go have fun with my camera at the Ice Cream Museum. There are so many Instagram snaps that would be fun to capture with my camera and my kids.

    The overnight at the Museum sounds like a blast too. Hopefully, nothing crazy happens like in the movie though….hahah
