Can you even believe we are talking about back to school season already? It feel like just yesterday we were buying school supplies! I now have two high school students in my house which is so crazy to think, they were so little not too long ago! If you have college students, they are going back to school even sooner than the younger kids, so it’s best to prepare a bit early. My kids are on the hunt for the perfect backpack for each of their needs this year. Some have to fit a 15-inch laptop, some need water bottle pockets for after school activities. Firstly, the older kids need more compartments for their things. Typically the younger ones just have their lunch and maybe a books so for smaller items, you need one front pocket. For high schoolers and middle schoolers, they will need more. Such as a large main compartment and smaller pockets. This way they can fit all of their larger items for the day with ample space. A dedicated padded sleeve counts as a compartment for easy access to computers or tablets. Secondly, we kind of geek out of organization. Having features like internal organization for large bottles of water, pencils, pens and school essentials. We like having plenty of space for larger loads and a slip pocket for laptops. A large compartment is essential for school lunch and textbooks. These backpacks have reflective details of what your kids need as students. Extra protection from weather is a bonus as well. For my kids, we tend to go for backpacks with exterior pockets to keep everything organized in a dedicated spot. Another feature we like is two water bottle pockets on the sides of the bag. Important items will look different to every student because everyone has individual needs. Maybe start by making a full list of what your kids need for the year and find a durable backpack that fits those needs specifically.

Finally, the right backpack will be one your kids like, not something you choose without them most of the time. They all have personal styles that need to be met.
