The Giving Table

With the holidays around the corner, I’ve been trying to instill upon my children the importance of giving. While they spend plenty of time during the weeks leading up to the holidays compiling their Christmas lists, I try to shift the attention from “I want, I want,” things to doing kind things for others. Given their young ages, the concept is a work in progress, but they are slowly catching on. We are incorporating different ways for the children to give back this month. A trip to a local shelter to drop off non perishable goods, and toy and clothing drives are our typical holiday activities. This year, we are also working with Stockings With Care, and have requested names of three children, that the kids can buy personal gifts for.

In keeping with holiday season, the kids have also been busy creating little arts and crafts. To get them excited, I always decorate our table, and hang little decorations around the house. My mom was always big into dressing the house up for the holidays, so it’s something I have adopted since becoming a mom. When looking for Thanksgiving decor this season, I turned to Wayfair, because they offer a wide selection, and everything can be ordered online.

Our left over Halloween pumpkins are still on the table, and I added this set of two Harvest Stacked Characters, to “bookend” my center piece, and placed everything on the Cutout Leaves Table Runner. These little Pumpkin Place Card Holders are fun, because the kids have been making different place cards before dinner each night since they arrived.

Decorating our home for the holidays brings such joy, and it’s something the children have become involved with. I can’t wait to hit up Wayfair for Christmas decor. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
