Summer Books Your Kids Won’t Want to Put Down

Summer vacation is something the kids look forward to. While we do get a ton of time outside and with friends, I think it’s important to take time to wind down. I know the kids have assigned reading for summer break and while a lot of kids get to choose their books, many do not. Moreover, you may think they would get tired of reading if they have plenty of chapter book options that are assigned. We do need rainy day activities and some of the best books to simply provide an escape from the outside world.

A love of reading is something that is definitely learned because it all depends on finding the right book your kids will love. It’s also proven to be amazing for mental health. Here are some of my kids’ favorite books to add to your summer reading list.

Book Club

Firstly, if you’re struggling to get your kids to read more during the summer days, try creating a book club for them and their friends. Call up other moms and try to get everyone on board! This is a fun idea! The kids can choose a handful of books to read for a few weeks at a time and then discuss their thoughts on. Middle school books are more difficult to find. A tween girl or young boy are pickier about reading and spending time doing this in the summer, as well.

Henceforth, you’d be surprised at how much kids will find a love of books. They take on their own challenges with great inspiration from these reads. The school year is a little over a month away and the teenage years are tough. The good news is, books are a way to learn new things and connect with other people.

Life Lessons

Secondly, I know I’ve said this before but books teach lessons that may be difficult to otherwise express. We are out of school for the summer and the kids learn so much from their teachers. Now have to step in for the season to help them out. The whole family can read these books. You can start with early readers or a little kid with a bedtime book to teach good morals, etc. For instance, a lot of tv shows have life lessons at the end of the day, books can also teach us things that are important. Think about this for your next read because a great story is one that shows us how to act in the real world.

Fantasy World

Finally, this is the most important category when it comes to shopping for a list of books. Your kids must enjoy what they read otherwise it becomes a chore. We like to look online or roam a bookstore to have the kids pick out good books. If you have kids going to summer camp and it’s a journey away or they have quiet time there, books are a great way to pass the time! A great read is something my kids look forward to. Even one book a month adds up!
