My family is pretty active outdoors and so when we go to the beach, we like to bring along games. It keeps us entertained and make for great beach activities. When it’s so hot outside it’s truly a good distraction from the heat. Just make sure you bring extra water! From a classic game to those that involve hand-eye coordination, I’ve found the best beach games for kids of all ages. Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition? Shop our favorite beach games for the sandy shores this season!
Take What You Can Carry
Our walk isn’t usually too far to the beach, but on those really crowded days, any extra items is a big no from me. The sand is super hot, so I tend to bring games that can fit in a large beach bag for beach play. It helps when we have all hands on deck helping to carry everything. So we can actually bring a list of items more since I have the help. But for family beach days, we try to keep it on the light side and rotate through games all season long. Easy transportation in the heat will be something you will definitely want to pay attention to. Be mindful of this when packing your beach bag.
Seasonal Activities
We like to take advantage of beach games and sports that are more seasonal for the summer season. It goes by so quickly! We like to really savor these sports on each beach visit. For example, bocce ball, tennis balls, items to build a sand castle, beach bowling and volleyball nets. These are all meant for the entire family and friends to play on a beach trip. Honestly, you can never go wrong with a simple flying disc or water bucket relay. These things are easy to find a dollar store for fun activities, too. This is great if you don’t want to spend more on the aesthetic looking games.
Shop by Age
Finally, there is a time limit for each kid on how long they will commit to a game. Little kids tend to have less patience and fly through activities more than the older kids. My teens will play volleyball all day on the beach if I let them! Moreover, you’ll to shop for a list of beach games for the age groups of your kids. Some games are complicated and for older kids or teens and adults, while others are made for young children or all ages. For instance, a relay race, seashell hunt, a beach scavenger hunt or making sand angels are a fun little competition for family members of all ages. While things like checkers are more advanced and for older kids. They sell beach towels these days that have game boards printed on them, which makes for easy and fun team games to bring out for a long day at the beach. I have to say, that is a family favorite of ours, it is a top pick and makes for the perfect game as well as a great time for larger groups to take turns playing.
