I think most us mamas are at a point this summer where we can use a little break from our kiddies, and a night with our girlfriends. I’ve been going non-stop since school let out, and while the bonding time has been great, I am longing for a night to catch up with my girlfriends IRL (in real life!), to talk about our summer adventures, plans for back to school, and just whatever.

So this weekend, I am planning a “Girls’ Night In,” for me and my besties, so we can reconnect with one another and feel human again. Who needs going out and spend a ton of dough, when we can stay home and watch a movie. I’ll put together a cheese tray, some chocolate sweets and make my famous Frose’! I’ve been racking my brain on what to watch, and found that the Book Club is now available for download on iTunes.

In the film, the women get together to discuss the latest book they’re reading, which happens to be Fifty Shades Of Grey, but end up talking about so much more. From discovering new romance to rekindling old flames, they inspire each other to make their next chapter the best chapter. The release includes hilarious bonus content, like the making of the film, and deleted scenes.

And the cast is incredible. Diane (Diane Keaton), recently widowed after 40 years of marriage. Vivian (Jane Fonda) enjoys her men with no strings attached. Sharon (Candice Bergen) is still working through a decades-old divorce, and Carol (Mary Steenburgen) whose marriage is in a slump after 35 years!

I’m so excited to watch this movie with my girlfriends, and I hope it’ll give us a little inspiration to start up our book club again. When Ryder was super young our club met monthly, but the demands of parenthood eventually gobbled up our spare moments. Now that the kids are a little older, I think it’s time to get the club going again. It’ll give me an excuse to read, and a chance to catch up with my friends on a regular basis!

  1. I love your idea for a girls’ night! It doesn’t always have to be a night out on the town. Great movie, drinks and snacks! You can’t beat that!

  2. My wife loves that movie! I can’t wait until our kids grow up a little more so she can have a girls night in again. There’s just so many people in the house

I have to call my girlfriends this weekend and plan for a get-together like this. We have not seen each other for a while so I guess a home movie marathon night would be nice. Chocolates and fresh fruit for a snack is a good idea.

  4. i think this is cute they have a movie centered around Book Clubs. I am a book worm and now I would like to watch this and even start my own book club.
