I think most us mamas are at a point this summer where we can use a little break from our kiddies, and a night with our girlfriends. I’ve been going non-stop since school let out, and while the bonding time has been great, I am longing for a night to catch up with my girlfriends IRL (in real life!), to talk about our summer adventures, plans for back to school, and just whatever.
So this weekend, I am planning a “Girls’ Night In,” for me and my besties, so we can reconnect with one another and feel human again. Who needs going out and spend a ton of dough, when we can stay home and watch a movie. I’ll put together a cheese tray, some chocolate sweets and make my famous Frose’! I’ve been racking my brain on what to watch, and found that the Book Club is now available for download on iTunes.
In the film, the women get together to discuss the latest book they’re reading, which happens to be Fifty Shades Of Grey, but end up talking about so much more. From discovering new romance to rekindling old flames, they inspire each other to make their next chapter the best chapter. The release includes hilarious bonus content, like the making of the film, and deleted scenes.
And the cast is incredible. Diane (Diane Keaton), recently widowed after 40 years of marriage. Vivian (Jane Fonda) enjoys her men with no strings attached. Sharon (Candice Bergen) is still working through a decades-old divorce, and Carol (Mary Steenburgen) whose marriage is in a slump after 35 years!

I’m so excited to watch this movie with my girlfriends, and I hope it’ll give us a little inspiration to start up our book club again. When Ryder was super young our club met monthly, but the demands of parenthood eventually gobbled up our spare moments. Now that the kids are a little older, I think it’s time to get the club going again. It’ll give me an excuse to read, and a chance to catch up with my friends on a regular basis!
Encouraging you all to have a girls’ night IN with your friends too! To kick off your evening, here’s a recipe to my easy peasy Strawberry Frose’!
1 bottle of Rosé
1 cup of strawberries
2 teaspoons of sugar (or substitute)
1/2 lemon freshly squeezed
cup of ice
Blend everything together till mixture becomes slushy. Serve with strawberry garnish! Enjoy!
And remember…it’s never too late to live your life to the fullest, pursue goals, and love. Download Book Club on iTunes today!

Now that’s how you have an awesome girls night! A chick flick with THE chicks, yummy chocolate, and yummy cocktails. Let the cackling commence!
I love your idea for a girls’ night! It doesn’t always have to be a night out on the town. Great movie, drinks and snacks! You can’t beat that!
You had me at Frose!!! I need to see this movie! Sounds like I need to invite some friends over!
I love having my girlfriends over! A good movie with some really decadent and yummy snacks is such an awesome idea. This one I haven’t watched yet and would love to!
My wife loves that movie! I can’t wait until our kids grow up a little more so she can have a girls night in again. There’s just so many people in the house
I saw this movie and could not stop laughing! I just remember the scene where she makes her online dating profile – I was in stitches!
That sounds like such a fun girl’s nigh out! I love the personalized Book Club chocolates!
I have to call my girlfriends this weekend and plan for a get-together like this. We have not seen each other for a while so I guess a home movie marathon night would be nice. Chocolates and fresh fruit for a snack is a good idea.
Sounds like my kind of girls night in. I love berries and cheese with a good drink!
i think this is cute they have a movie centered around Book Clubs. I am a book worm and now I would like to watch this and even start my own book club.
