Motherβs Day has always been a big deal when I was growing up. We always celebrated the day with a fun brunch, so when I became a mother 5 Β½ years ago we did just that and have been every year since. I love nothing more on Motherβs Day than to spend the day with my children and family.Β But, dining out with three children under 5 can be quite a handful. I always make sure the restaurants we choose have a childrenβs menu. Most places we decide on are family friendly but if they are not; I am always equipped with coloring books, crayons, toys and snacks for when we are waiting in between courses. It all comes down to keeping the kiddies entertained the entire time.
I try to make the experience enjoyable for my children, that way us adults can enjoy the special time too. Most of the time my children are pretty well-behaved, but there is that two hour limit that if we go over we tend to lose control. Keeping our outings short and sweet are key!Β This year I did some researching and we have already made our reservations to attend Langham Place on Fifth Avenue. They are actually hosting a family-friendly sing along that I think the kids will enjoy a ton! Any restaurant that can involve the kids while dining; will make our day even more special!
Chef David Vandenabeele will be preparing a prix-fixe menu along with kidβs favorites such as belgian waffles with house-made chocolate sauce as well as a breakfast pizza with tomato, sausage and mozzarella served on an english muffin. Options for the adults include , such as scotch eggs with chopped pork and chorizo, a variety of breakfast quiche; and the mini lamb burger with goat cheese. The family-friendly musical brunch is served as a prix-fixe option – $40 for adults, $20 for children under 3 years old. I am so excited for Sunday as are my children!
