Last weekend, we were itching to log some hours on the slopes, so we planned a road trip to Mount Snow, Vermont. Faced with a four plus hour drive up north, we questioned the integrity of our old SUV. The car we have now has been acting up lately and we’ve just begun our search for a new car. For the ultimate test drive, we had to opportunity to try out the Lexus RX 350L on this long haul! What would it be like for our family of five, stacked with winter gear, skis, snowboards, helmets, boots and all the trimmings?!
From the outside, the Lexus RXL 350L is very sleek and appears smaller than other SUVs, but it was surprisingly spacious inside. With all of our snow gear, Jason was a little concerned that we wouldn’t have enough room, but he was pleasantly surprised to find that the back seats move forward, to offer some extra cargo space in the trunk area when needed. All of the extra room made for a comfortable ride for the five of us, and we never felt cramped, even with all of our gear! Once we were unloaded at our hotel, and driving around town, Ryder was psyched to sit in the third row seating, to get a little break from his sisters! And this is the first year that third row seating is available in a 350 model, so Ryder lucked out!! 🙂
On our last day skiing, we woke up to falling snow, every ski buff and snowboarders dream! The trails were covered with fresh, white fluffy stuff, but the snowfall continued well into the afternoon, when it was time to drive home. I am never a fan of being on the road when its snowing, especially with the kids in the car, so I was curious as to how the Lexus RXL 350 would handle the weather. As we navigated the windy wintery roads on our way out of town, before hitting the interstate, my concerns subsided, as I felt the RXL 350 push through the weather with ease.
I love that the dashboard tells you to take a break after two hours of driving.
Come Monday morning, we were sad to see the Lexus RXL 350 go, but I think we are one step closer to finding our next family SUV!

I went to Vermont to Dog Mountain and we had a grand time. It is such a beautiful state. I know they get a lot of snow, and it looks like you had a wonderful family trip.
What a sweet looking car! I am impressed it seats your family comfortably, which is great for long rides. I love that it handled well in the winter mess for you.
I love that 3rd row option! It’s sporty and sleek and yet has plenty of room.
That looks like a great vehicle. We have been having some harsh winter days here lately and a vehicle like this is a must.
This is one nice looking SUV. Having a dependable vehicle is important, especially in the winter. It is surprisingly spacious.
What a wonderful time for you and your family! I love that the SUV doesn’t look “bulky” from the outside. I also love all of the room your family had inside. I think it is so neat it has the 3rd row seating, and the dashboard looks amazing! Thank you for such a great review.
