NYC is alive and well! We have weathered the storm, we stayed strong, and now with an amazing vaccination roll out, things are moving towards our new normal. Streets, restaurants, and parks are filling up with eager New Yorkers ready to enjoy their favorite city again. Summer always helps too! There could not be better time to enjoy it all. I know our family is so excited to explore this list and make up for lost time!
Little Island
New Yorkers have long anticipating this gorgeous park! Truly a one of kind park that connects nature with art. Located on the Hudson River between 13th st. and 14th st. this 2.4 acre destination is a summer must visit! Also make a trip to the beloved Highline near by.
Kusama Cosmic Nature
Yayoi Kusama is a true artistic wonder. Her fantasy like visions leave us all inspired year after year. This specific exhibit Cosmic Nature at the New York Botanical Gardens provides a profound connection to nature. Kusama childhood spent on her families seed nursery influences her deep admiration for nature, color, texture, and more.
Legoland New York
Covid-19 had previously postponed this highly anticipated opening of Legoland New York. But now that things are moving past the global pandemic, Legoland is starting to offer preview tickets starting May 29th. Located in Goshen NY, 1.5 hours away from NYC, a Legoland visit makes for an amazing family adventure.
Tea Time At Brookfield Place
Brookfield does it again. I have long loved living steps away from Brookfield Place. Their newest family fun offer, is a minature golf course. Featuring 7 holes suitable for ages 5+ this is a great for NYC families. Walk ins are welcome, but reservations can be made in advanced as well.
Cinderella The Musical
Theatre is slowing coming back and I’m so excited! This particular show is an amazing option for families of all ages. Running until June 6 this West Village local adaptation of a classic childhood favorite is a must see. I can’t wait to take my girls for a fun filled show while supporting local artists and theatre.
Reclining Liberty
Head over to Morning Side Park to see this sculpture in person. After 135 years of standing, Liberty herself is due for some rest. Heheh! Artist Zaq Landsberg designed this 25 foot statue that lies on the grass in Harlem. You can pose with her and even sit on her until April 2022!
The Green At Lincoln Center
How fun and cool does this look? The girls and I checked at The Green exhibit a few weeks ago and it was such a blast. This unique exhibit of 14,000 square feet features grass-like recyclable material to invite New Yorkers to enjoy the open-air space, along with live performances. A super awesome twist to a NYC classic monument.
SeaStreak Whale Watching
Did you know you can whale watch from NYC? Whales in NY aren’t as uncommon as you might think! SeaStreak is offering whale watching tours right from NYC to Sandy Hook. Only 30 minutes away your whole family can have this majestic experience. And for those 21+, SeaStreak also offers a fully stocked bar!
Van Gogh Exhibit
The largest Van Gogh exhibit in the world is coming to Pier 36! This immersive art exhibit merges classic iconic Van Gogh paintings and state of the art technology! Sold out around the world, New Yorkers can anticipate these tickets to go fast! Hurry and get your tickets before this one of a kind event leaves our city in September.
Circle Line Cruises
Circle Line Cruises is an amazing activity for family members of all ages! It is a quintessential discovery of some of NYC most famous skylines and landmarks! With so many different tours to choose from this is must for New York families this summer. The also offer “Kid Free” promotions making this open air fun accessible to all!
Roll-A-Rama At The TWA Hotel
The TWA Hotel’s Roll-A-Rama at the Runway Rink welcomes skaters to take a spin around the hotel’s 1958 Lockheed Constellation “Connie” airplane! Weather permitting, the Roll-A-Rama is open Fridays from 4 PM to 8 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM to 8 PM.
Children’s Museum Of Manhattan
Museum’s have always been a great resource for families and they’re slowly all opening back up! While hours and capacity are limited to help keep everyone safe, The Children’s Museum of Manhattan has long been a household favorite for NYC families. Create one of a kind art sculptures, learn about everyones right to vote, join Dora and Diego on an animal rescue mission, and more.
Harborside
Harborside is Jersey city’s latest hotspot! Enjoy the water front restaurants, work spaces, and events Harborside offers. Starting May 29th Harborside will also be the location for the first New Jersey Smorgasburg! Check out their events calendar for all the family fun being offered this summer.
