Fundamental Snacking

I just returned from back to back press trips, and needless to say I am a bit frazzled. Our tiny apartment has been turned upside down with laundry, empty suitcases, an overflowing work pile on the desk, and bare cupboards. Yesterday, I decided to drop everything, and head to a Target to get some essentials. While Target isn’t so accessible from Battery Park, I make it a point to get there once a month to stock up on household items, school supplies and snacks for the kiddies, and while roaming the aisles, I always manage to find something else we need. Gemma usually plays the part of my buddy in tow for these excursions, while the bigs are in school.

While I could probably spend an entire day shopping in Target, and I know I’m totally in trouble when their new store in our hood opens, my time in their stores is usually limited, since we need to get back home in time to park the car, and pickup Ryder and Siella from school. Target’s new Made To Matter initiative has really helped alleviate some time spent in store, as they have handpicked 20 natural, organic, and sustainable brands for their 2016 collection, which are all brands I believe in and shop for my children. One of these products in particular is Bitsy’s Brainfood. My children first discovered these snacks last year, and they have been in constant lunch snack rotation ever since. Since both Siella and Gemma’s school is nut-free, they make the perfect treat.

I’ve always been extremely conscious about what my children are eating, and try to only offer healthy snacking options in our home. Bitsy’s Smart Cookies are USDA Organic, non GMO, and made with organic fruits and veggies, and made in cute alphabet-shaped Smart Cookies. First fans of the Bitsy’s Smart Cookies which come in flavors like, Orange Chocolate Beet, Sweet Potato Oatmeal Raisin, and Zucchini Gingerbread Carrot, I was excited to see their newest edition, the Smart Crackers!

The Smart Crackers too are organic and made with a half serving of organic veggies. They are baked in fun tangram shapes, which teach logic, math and spatial reasoning, and available in three yummy flavors, Cheddar Chia Veggie, Maple Carrot Crisp, and Sweet Potato Cinna-Graham. They are even an excellent source of Vitamins A, B6, B12, D, and Folic Acid. Not only are they now learning their alphabet while snacking, but can make shapes now too!

It’s been a treat watching Bitsy’s Brainfood expand, and I like having a yummy brand to offer to my kids that I know I can trust. They look forward to these snacks, and one that I don’t mind doling out to them, guilt free. You can find Bitsy’s Brainfood Smart Crackers and Smart Cookies at your local Target stores, and they are currently running a 20% deal through the Cartwheel app. I encourage you all to join the Bitsy’s Smart Cookie Community and help spread their mission of making healthy eating fun. You’ll receive exclusive information and coupons, learn about fun campaigns and even get samples from time to time, by clicking HERE.
Stay tuned tomorrow, as I will be taking over the Bitsy’s Brainfood Instagram account sharing a few photos of our daily lives here in Battery Park City!
