Decluttering Our Space in Time for Spring

There is nothing quite like a true deep clean to reset your home. With spring officially beginning on March 20th, now is the perfect time to start getting organized. No matter what the groundhog says. Spring cleaning goes far beyond tossing clothes in the wash or wiping down surfaces with an all purpose cleaner. It is about slowing down and taking the time to reorganize your space. And creating systems that actually work to give your home the attention it deserves after a long winter. From thoroughly cleaning hardwood floors and carpets to dusting ceiling fans and tackling stubborn stains on furniture, spring cleaning is a full refresh. Make your checklist, set aside the time and let’s get started.

Closets

Let’s kick it all off with one of the most dreaded but rewarding spring cleaning tasks: cleaning out the closets. Letting go of clothing can feel emotional. Especially when it comes to pieces you once loved. However, if something no longer fits well or has not been worn in over a year, it may be time to move on. Spring is the perfect opportunity to clear out what no longer serves you. Let’s create an organization system that makes getting dressed easier. Over the door organizers, shelving units and streamlined hangers can help maximize space and keep everything in order. While your closet is empty, take the opportunity to vacuum thoroughly, reaching corners and floors that are usually hidden.

A clean and organized home can make a noticeable difference in how you feel day to day. When you focus on the reward of a refreshed space, spring cleaning becomes something to look forward to. Better days often start with your environment. An organized home sets the tone for a new season. Create a realistic to do list, prioritize what matters most and work through your spring cleaning routine. Take it one step at a time. For our mental well-being, storage solutions with closets and of course the entire home, just make us feel like there is less physical clutter. Moreover, a great way to jump into spring and warmer weather is by preparing to flip our closets for the upcoming season with organization. Now is the ideal time to get rid of a cluttered home and mental clutter for a fresh start and new beginnings.

Kitchen

Secondly, let’s move on to the kitchen. It feels the most manageable and gives an immediate sense of accomplishment. This is the time to deep clean the oven and give every appliance some attention, especially the refrigerator. A full fridge clean out is something many of us avoid, particularly in busy households. There is never really a perfect time to do it. The key is to pick a day, take everything out and wipe down every surface using a spray bottle and a microfiber cloth. White vinegar is a simple and effective cleaner that works well on counters, appliances and even floors.

Another area that often gets overlooked is the kitchen sink and garbage disposal, both of which can benefit from a thorough clean. A few reliable cleaning tools and products can make a big difference. They help bring your kitchen back to feeling fresh and functional. The decluttering process can begin with a to-do list. You’ll be surprised just by how fewer items you realize you only need. I’m a girl and I get how we can acquire so much stuff but the first step is by looking at different areas of your home and determining what you use. Anything that doesn’t feel like it is adding to a cluttered environment can go, this is all unnecessary items. Small victories begin here!

Moreover, add clear containers. These are what professional organizers use for storage containers. We actually use these throughout the entire house. But first thing, we are beginning with the kitchen for the season of renewal.

Home

Finally, there are so many additional spaces in the home that often get pushed to the end of the list. This can make spring cleaning feel overwhelming. The bathroom, living room and laundry room tend to lose momentum during a deep clean. This feels a bit crazy even though they are some of the most frequently used areas in the house. Now is the perfect time to give the bathroom a true refresh. Time to tackle soap scum, disinfect surfaces and clear out cabinets. In the living room, consider rearranging furniture to create better flow and bring a renewed sense of energy into the space.

The laundry room also deserves attention, including cleaning your washing machine itself. Many machines have removable parts that need to be rinsed and cleaned to keep everything running smoothly. Once those areas are refreshed, it becomes easier to maintain the rest of your home. With dust cleared, floors washed and carpets refreshed, your space will feel lighter, cleaner and ready to welcome the warmer months ahead. Mental clarity comes with organizing projects for daily life.
