Manhattan
Central Park
Central Park is known as the lungs of the city as it features over 40 thousand trees! There are parks within the park, areas to run, ride bikes, and horse carriages, and even a zoo! The park can be explored over a series of days, as it is so large. There are performances held in the park, many statues to see, bridges, and really brings you from city to nature!
Bryant Park
Bryant Park is great for picnics, exploring, and finding tons of family-friendly events, even ones that are free! At Bryant Park you can find food kiosks, a carousel for kids, and games such as ping pong, chess, and more! Bryant Park is in encompassed by shopping and next to the New York Public Library!
The High Line
The High Line is in the Flatiron district and offers great views of the water and the city. The High Line is about a mile and a half long, linear park! Enjoy a stroll through the high line with all of the plant life throughout the path! There are also seating areas and tables great for picnics!
Carl Schurz Park
The Carl Schurz Park is located on the Upper East Side and is one of the most dog-friendly parks! The park features two dog runs, areas to walk and explore, and a playground for kids of all ages!
Chelsea Waterside Playground
At The Chelsea Waterside Playground visitors can find the pipefish, or resident of Hudson River Park Estuary, on display! This play area includes water features, a sand area, shaded regions, a basketball court, grassy lawns, and a dog run! The playground is open from 6 am – 1 am Monday through Saturday and 6 am – 12 am on Sundays.
Ancient Playground
The Ancient Playground is located on the east side of Central Park and is inspired by the Egyptian Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art! The park features a play area, pyramid-shaped climbers, slides, tunnels, wooden climbers, and water features! This playground is meant for age groups of pre-school and school-age!
Imagination
Imagination playground is fully interactive with pieces and prompts for kids to manipulate the environment around them. This playground is unique in offering a new way of fantasy and cooperative play left entirely up to the imaginations of children!
West Thames Park
The West Thames Park has a large climbing structure, basketball court for children under twelve, a sand box, small lawn and water play! The park amenities also include two half basketball courts for teens and adults, as well as the Liberty Community Garden! Four legged friends also have a space to run around off their leash!
Rockefeller Park
The Rockefeller park is at the North end of Battery Park City and includes large lawns, a playground, gardens, public art pieces, and a pavilion. The Parkhouse loans games and equipment every day during May through October! There are also ping pong and billiards tables, basketball and handball courts, and swings.
Teardrop Park
Teardrop park includes a children’s slide, sand boxes, reading area, naturalistic paintings, and water play. Teardrop Park also features the “Ice Wall” artwork by Ann Hamilton and Michael Mercil.
Vesuvio Playground
The Vesuvio Playground is in SoHo on the corner of Thompson and Spring Street. Vesuvio was formerly named Thompson, however, was renamed after the Italian Bakery on the corner of Prince. The playground features a comfort station, swings, benches, and a central wading pool!
Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park is one of the most well known parks out of all of New York City’s public parks. Washington Square Park is a landmark featuring the arch and fountain honoring George Washington and several other monuments!
Washington Market Park
Washington Market Park has a community garden, a large lawn for picnics, basketball courts, two playgrounds, a tennis court, and a gazebo perfect for events and parties! Park hours are seven days a week from 7am until dusk!
Pier 25
The Pier 25 Play Area features a sand box, eight different water features, swing sets for big and little kids, and climbing boulders and walls. The play area is designed for kids ages 2-12 and is in Tribeca!
DeSalvio Playground
The DeSalvio Park is located in Little Italy and has recently been remodeled within that past year. The playground amenities include built-in stone chess tables, half basketball court, benches, and modular play equipment!
QUEENS
New York Hall of Science Playground
The New York Hall of Science Playground includes exhibits and interactive activities for kids. The playground is littered with science topics and tips, as well as wind pipes, metal drums, and sandboxes! The playground is open late March – October, Monday through Friday from 9:30am – 5pm, and weekends from 10am – 6pm depending on the weather. The park costs $5/person, plus general admission to NYSCI.
BROOKLYN
Brooklyn Bridge Park
The Brooklyn Bridge Park is located in Dumbo and features Jane’s Carousel! Jane’s Carousel is a 48-horse that was built in 1922! The park is next to a ferry landing, features gardens and piers, and breath taking views!
Prospect Park
Prospect Park is in Brooklyn and is open daily from 5am – 1am. Over warmer months there is music, events, and more! You can host birthday parties, weddings, and events there! Events are often held at Prospect Park and you can check their event calendar for daily activites and programs!
Domino Park
Domino Park is located in Williamsburg, right along the water! Where the Domino Sugar Refinery once was located, the park now holds its spot! The park is an entire 5 acres along the East River and is open Monday through Sunday from 6am – 1am. Domino Park features an elevated walkway, a playground for kids, a restaurant, fountain and seating steps, a fog bridge, beach volleyball cart, flex field, bocce court, and a dog run. It is the ultimate park for every member in the family!
