The pickleball court is the place to be this summer! It’s a step trendier than tennis and a sport you can even play year round in indoor courts. We’ll be taking advantage of the outdoor courts this season and be wearing the cutest pickleball attire while we’re at it! The right gear makes all the difference with the movements and especially beating the heat. Pickleball outfits and court shoes give you full range of motion. Moisture-wicking materials and breathable fabrics are also something to look out for pickleball clothing. We’ve picked out a few options for your pickleball matches this summer to become your official dress code.
Lightweight Materials
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports these days. It’s almost like a cross between tennis and ping pong. The most important thing here is not that you are the best on the court but that you are just having fun! With this popular sport come a lot of quick movements so we need a comfortable fit. More than a moisture-wicking shirt, it’s all got to be lightweight. I don’t know about you, but I overheat in the summer anyway so when I add an active sport to being outdoors, it becomes a lot.
The right clothes will be performance fabrics. Lightweight materials are comfortable clothing but give you better air circulation to keep cool while running around on the court. Pickleball clothes don’t need to look like tennis clothes either. The stretchy fabrics are key to help with quick side-to-side movements. Outdoor pickleball especially needs peak performance material. There are tons of popular brands making clothes for hot weather that they really all give a great choice for the right outfit. Cooler weather will bring more options but while we are doing outdoor play, we’re sticking to lighter materials.
Fashion
Let’s get into the fun portion of dressing for the court! Fashion can’t beat skill level but it can make you feel your best. We turned to Free People Movement for a lot of the pieces for pickleball fashion. They had a summer drop and just know how to make clothes comfy and cute. They provide a lot of freedom of movement all while having built in shorts in their pieces. It makes significant difference in your playing if you are in comfortable attire. Moreover, Shopbop had pickleball game attire from tons of brands and that is a great way to try out new pieces.
I’m not quite a seasoned player and am a bit more focused on what I’m wearing and how I’m feeling than my skill level. Make sure your courts don’t have a strict dress code before purchasing new items. I haven’t seen one have one yet but we know tennis sometimes requires this depending on where you are playing. Sunny days and great weather conditions make it easier to dress for. Don’t forget the shoes either! Pickleball apparel includes tennis shoes that let you run around the court and stay comfortable while doing so. This is the best game and we can’t wait to jump pack into it this season!
