Fall in NYC is a beautiful time! The weather is crisp and there are so many fun things to see and do in this magical city. I know everyone’s comfort zones are very different these days, so I’ve grabbed a variety activities and there truly is something for everyone here. NYC is back and I have the best list of things you can do here this month!
Visit The Children’s Museum of Manhattan
The CMOM is taking on the new school year with a ton of fun events for children and families! They have their Superpowered Metropolis, which is an educational comic book inspired exhibit for children 6 and under. Additionally, throughout the month of October, they will be hosting programs to celebrate Indigenous Peoples day, Halloween and so much more with events like artful activism, fossil week, slime time surprise, witch’s brew and so much more! Bring your family out for a great time full of education!
The Taste of Seaport is back for it’s 11th year on October 16th! They will have over 30 local restaurants and merchants, KidZone activities, wine and beer tasting at the VIP lounge and live music. Proceeds from tickets go towards supporting enrichment programs for children at Spruce Street School PS 397 and Peck Slip School PS 343. Grab your tickets and bring the whole family!
If you’re going to do anything this month, it’s visiting SUMMIT! This is one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had in the city! They have AIR- a mindblowing art experience in a 1,000 foot space, Levitation- which is are two glass ledges that are 1,063 feet above Madison Avenue, Ascent- glass elevators with the highest panoramic views and more! If you want the best views and a cool experience in NYC, get your tickets!
The Times of Bill Cunningham Exhibit
Another great Seaport activity! If you love fashion, you’re going to want to check out this experience! It’s a digital immersive journey through Bill Cunningham’s life. If you don’t know who he was, let me just tell you, he was one of the greatest fashion historians and documentarians around! What makes this experience so unique, is not only that it is all digital, but it is interactive. If you post a photo using the hashtag #timesofbill, you can see it appear on the screens there! Check out my TikTok to see my trip there @strollerinthecity! They’re open now- October 30th.
On October 2nd, The Met is having their first ever block party! It will be from 12-6 and you can meet artists and the whole neighborhood. They will be having performances, gallery chats, art making and tours phenomenal pieces of art, you will not want to miss this! But, just in case you can’t make it, they are live streaming the entire thing!
The iconic Comic Con is back and better than ever this year! They’re open from October 7th-10th and will be at the Javits Center. They have great guests this year, opportunities for autographs and photos and so much more! If you’re a comic fan, this is a must go!
It’s that time of year again! Oktoberfest is back all month long through the 24th on Pier 15 at Watermark-Waterfront Bar! There will be so much beer, fun, food and entertainment, grab your friends and have a great time!
This is another great family fun activity this month! And it’s perfect to get into the Halloween spirit! Located in Hudson Valley and on Long Island, this experience runs through November 7th. There are amazing lit up jack O’lanterns that are crafted into works of art. It’s kinda like when you go to see the holiday lights for Christmas, but this is Halloween style. Parking is free and the experience is priceless!
Who doesn’t love bagels?! On October 2nd, the 2nd annual Brooklyn Bagel Fest will be taking place! Tickets grant you 3 hours of access to tons of bagels, beer, hard cider, coffee, chocolate milk, games, a photobooth, bagel themed music and so much more! Kids under 12 are free and there’s also an option for VIP tickets, which grant you full day access and swag bags. Check them out!
Halloween Parade-Tompkins Square Dog Run
On Saturday, October 23rd, the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade is taking place! If you have a cute pup to dress up or just love dogs, this event is for you! Meet other people and let your dog socialize, as well. It will take place at the East River Park Amphitheater and costumes are encouraged!
Do you love Jazz? Well then I have the perfect event for you! The Jersey City Jazz Festival is taking place tomorrow, Saturday the 25th! The festival is being hosted by Mack-Cali and will take place in their Harborside parking lot. There will be fantastic bands, food trucks, VIP options and so much more! Head on over to Jersey for some Jazz!
The circus is back in town! This is a great family activity and there’s hours of entertainment. If you’ve never been, you’ll want to check this one out! Everyone should experience the circus at least once. While this event doesn’t officially open until November 11th, I wanted to include it this month because tickets are on sale for pre-order as of September 26th and they will go fast, so you’re going to want to grab them this month!
