It’s the most wonderful time of the year.. apart from the holidays, of course! New York City has the most iconic week and it’s finally here. New York Fashion Week is my super bowl. It’s a time where we can see the latest trends and all that is to come in terms of runway show, street style and beyond. And what is a more perfect backdrop than NYC? It’s mostly a week of industry professionals showing us what to look forward to with a sneak peek at fashion trends and a range of exciting events. Sometimes it feels like a fashion month, with all the social events that trickle afterwards. Let me give you a high level rundown of the must-attend event of the year with all the top trends!
For those that are newer to the world of fashion, welcome! NYFW is cutting-edge runway production showing off the latest fashion and most exclusive events in the country. I feel like Gossip Girl typing this but it’s a really fun world to be in the know about and I’m incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to enjoy this internationally acclaimed fashion experience.
This next season is going to have a new collection for every designer and our passionate community will have the chance to attend immersive events, product demonstrations and runway shows. NYFW happens twice a year- once in September and than again in February. While buyers and press mostly attend, there are options for the general public to view the fall and spring collections. There is an immense focus on future fashion trends is a major part of the transformation of the fashion industry bi-annually.
This fall, fashion week is happening officially September 8th-13th, but of course there are unmatched insider extras and events trickling out all throughout the month. If we’re going to celebrate anything in this city for an entire month, it should be fashion! Shows cover pretty much every hour of the day for the week, so there’s a lot of running around. Totally worth it, though!
Let’s get into the expectations! If you’re curious who will be occupying these vendor spaces with fabulous clothes, accessories and shoes, I’ll break it all down here. There are a ton of designers participating this year, but a few to mention are Alice + Olivia, Bach Mai, Cavanagh Baker, Cucculelli Shaheen, PatBo, Private Policy, Proenza Schouler, Sergio Hudson, The Blonds, Tiffany Brown Designs, Christian Siriano, Bibhu Mohapatra, Libertine, Wiederhoeft and more!
