Spring is officially underway and I’m already craving the warmth of summer. While it’s getting warmer, we definitely still need lightweight jackets here in the city, especially at night. We live in the fashion capital of the country, so you know I look for the perfect layering pieces that are also stylish. Jackets are fair game because it’s important they are water resistant or warm enough for everyday wear. But who would I be if I said it wasn’t fun to shop for a fashionable spring wardrobe?! Statement pieces can absolutely be the perfect jacket, especially in a transitional season. With unpredictable spring weather, I always suggest knowing how to properly clean your jacket of choice before wearing it out!

Firstly, I know neutrals for a new jacket are great to have in the closet because they are so versatile. While I admire this for outdoor activities, I think it’s fun to have a pop of color for outerwear, especially because there is so much rain in the spring. It’s a great way to brighten up your mood and outfit! A pink color for an outer shell is ideal for me. Think about a pink waterproof jacket for rainy days, how happy does that instantly make you? It’s a popular choice in my house and a lightweight material for these jackets is something you’ll also want to think of as it starts to heat up. Another favorite option of mine is a colorful faux leather jacket. It’s a casual look for chilly days while adding different colors to an otherwise neutral look.
Blazer
Secondly, blazers are incredibly on trend for a more modern look to everyday basics. I know an oversized blazer is in style and I think they are the perfect choice for a fun night out. Moreover, I love a fun, fitted blazer for an everyday casual look. It’s a chic coat that will never go out of style because it’s constantly coming back. They are mostly known for being less of a personal style choice and more business fashion, which is why they will always be on trend. These are classic coats that are always great vintage finds if you can source one. My daughters have been borrowing mine from LoveShackFancy! There are tons of options these days, at all price points!
Jean Jacket
Furthermore, we all need jean jackets in our closet. It’s an unspoken rule. Go for a cropped fit, oversized or a pop of color and you have all of the spring classics. I even think I have one from high school, they always last so well and are the perfect pieces to hand down to your kids. In my opinion, these are the quintessential spring jacket trends that are more than trends-they never go out of style. Go for an all denim look or add one as a lightweight spring jacket on top of a spring dress and you are ready to head out!

Finally, I want to be sure to highlight other options for you all to consider, because there truly are so many casual spring jackets. For example, a lightweight puffer coat, utility jackets, trench coat and bomber jackets are all not only in style but classic options. These can be worn and span the test of time, always! They add a lightweight bit of warmth for chilly nights and days, while being super stylish and making you look great.
