Warmer weather is almost here, I can feel it! Spring is the perfect picnic season because it’s not super hot and there’s typically a nice breeze. Refreshing beverages, delicious food and good company are all things we are looking forward to. There’s no better way to spend time with family and friends and we cannot wait to break out our picnic blanket for the season. If you have your own backyard, this is something fun to do at home, but we love to go to a park to get fresh air and have a larger picnic area for outdoor gatherings. These are our essential items for the best picnic experience.
Baskets
Firstly, we can’t have a picnic without a basket. They actually make baskets that are insulated now so they keep all of your delicious snacks cool in the great outdoors. I don’t know why nobody thought of that sooner! In NYC, we tend to get to a park and just pull everything out, so we go for the aesthetic vs practical sometimes. But the insulation is always a great idea! Never forget that you can bring a cooler instead, too and still have a perfect time. As long as you have something big enough to fit charcuterie board essentials, I think you’re all set. Make sure it is easy to carry and has ample space to hold everything you need for your picnic spot.
Blankets
Secondly, yes the blanket makes or breaks a picnic. You never know what is in the grass and there’s nothing worse than sitting in a wet spot, too. It’s not easy to find a good blanket, so we have been scouring the internet for something that can make a sunny day and the beauty of nature comfortable to enjoy. The first step to any picnic is identifying seating options. You need a blanket whether you are bringing your kids to the park of having a romantic date in the park. The key here is to have a waterproof bottom. This make it easier to clean any mud or wet spots after the park and won’t allow any mud or water through the top. You stay dry the whole time and the best part is that your outfit doesn’t get ruined for your next spring picnic. Pay attention to the weather forecast, though because that will determine your ideal time to go out for the picnic.
Picnic Essentials
Finally, there is an assortment of other things that make for a good time! Disposable plates, utensils, Tupperware, drink ware and more! The beautiful scenery is always great but you need items to enjoy the picnic. If you need extra comfort, too that is something to think about for spring weather. A picnic game is also a fun idea to think about. It keeps you entertained and is great on cooler days when you want to run around but maybe not get super sweaty.
