With a new season comes new weather. And one thing that affects our skin and our skincare routines is our environment. Which is why sometimes when we travel to a more tropical destination we might experience better skin days than we have in a cold, rainy city. The first step in preparing for a new season is to grab skincare products that cater to your skin’s needs. Needing a couple extra steps for the cooler weather are an easy addition to any skincare routine. Pay special attention to what your skin reacts to as well. With the internet and all of the social media platforms, it’s easy to just buy what everyone else is using. But all of our bodies are different and what works for us might now work for others. Here are our simple steps to the best products for our fall skincare routine.

Great Cleanser
Let’s start out with a simple step and that’s what is cleaning our face. Finding a cleanser that is non-irritating is essential here, especially around the eye area. This is an area where most people are sensitive and weather changes can really affect dryness here. Some people prefer to go in with an oil based cleanser and finish with a creamier option for a double cleanse. If you have a full makeup routine, double cleansing would be a good idea. And one other thing here that might be difficult is to not use super hot water. Try to go for a more lukewarm option, especially if you are experiencing rougher patches of dry, flaky skin.
Hydrating Serum
Secondly, a hydrating serum could be the difference between dry areas and clearer skin. There are serums out there that provide gentle exfoliation and those work for a lot of people. But a more universal option for everyone to have in their proper skin prep is hydration. While we are transitioning to the winter season, locking in hydration is the next step. This doesn’t need to be a lasting dewy finish but it will make the no makeup days even better. Every skin care routine caters to specific skin concerns and it’s important to identify the right steps for yourself. Taking special care of our dehydrated skin is important.
Vitamin C
Now this is a more optional step because not everyone reacts well to this. For me, I love to have this in my routine to give a natural-looking glow. A lot of people pair this with a vitamin e oil which is also an amazing option to add to the entire face and bring down to the neck and chest. The better your routine is, the better your makeup base will be. Always be careful of your under eye area with all products!
Thicker Moisturizer
Furthermore, this is an essential part of protecting the skin barrier. Locking in hydration with a thicker moisturizer will be key to avoiding dry skin. It’s the most outer layer of our skin care routine and can improve skin texture, especially for dry skin types.
Lip Hydration
Finally, lips are one of the first easiest we can see someone is dehydrated. The dryer the lips, the more dehydrated you can be. On top of staying hydrated with water, having a thicker lip treatment to put on before bed is one of our favorite ways to lock in moisture.
