Must Have Take Out In NYC

New Yorkers are expert diners. We dine out a lot and sometimes too often. But Covid-19 has forced us all to get reacquainted with our kitchens. Hah! As much as I’ve loved trying new recipes and teaching my kids some cooking skills, I miss my local eateries. I don’t know when we’ll all be able to dine in again, but I do know takeout and delivery is getting safer by the day. We have ordered a minimal amount of times since March but each time have been such a treat. I put together some of my favorite downtown eateries for the next time you’re not feeling like your best chef self.

Classic Italian in the heart of TriBeCa. We ordered from Gran Morsi last week and it was so delicious. Everyone in the family got something different and we all picked at each others meals. So yum!
My favorite restaurant in NYC! You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. From the small bites right down to the desserts I love everything on their menu. Makes for such a special date night in!
A New York City staple Carbone is a must! I personally love the meatballs, the mozz & peppers, and of course the spicy rigatoni! And definitely don’t complete your order without a classic Italian rainbow cookie.
Two words, Mexican food! Who doesn’t love delicious tacos, gauc, fajitas, and of course margaritas. We ordered pick up a few weeks ago and I got a margarita to go for the walk home. It felt like perfection.
Gran Banks is just what we’re all needing right now. Enjoy a rosé while waiting in the summer sun for your fresh lobster roll to go.
New Yorkers know how to brunch and a lot of us know that Bubby’s is the best way to brunch! Bubby’s is an amazing menu for the whole family. Their sourdough pancakes are a hands down NYC must.
I love mediterranean/ middle eastern food. They also say its the healthiest cuisine to chose from. From roasted cauliflower, to beet salads, and of course tzatziki, I love all the fresh colorful flavors.
What would a list of restaurants be without a French favorite? Pastis has long been a French go to for New Yorkers, so head on over to the meatpacking district and grab a steak frites and aperol spritz to go!
This is a great takeout option if you want to eat outside and be socially distant. We grabbed to go lobster rolls and ate them by the water overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge while watching the boats go by. It was such a a great New York moment!
Another great waterfront option is Gigino’s in Battery Park. Serving up delicious Italian fare with the Statue Of Liberty as your dining backdrop!

  1. I love takeout. I get it all the time. From Asian to burgers, ordering in is always a win for me. I’ll have to try these places next time I’m in NYC.

  2. All of these take out restaurants sound like they have delicious take-out food right now. If I lived in New York I’d want to try them all, especially Bubby’s.

  3. I’m totally adding these restaurants to my list of places to check out on my next trip to New York. I’ve been all about lobster rolls this summer so I know where my first stop will be! 🙂
