A Magical Day Of Dress Up

Whenever I get comments or emails asking where I shop for my children, one store that makes the list nearly 100% of the time is H&M. They’ve been a staple in my children’s wardrobe since very young ages, because they make fashionable yet functional clothing for littles. With my fashion background, that is something I can completely appreciate.

Not a season goes by, where I don’t find myself browsing the racks for the kids, or even Jason and I. From clothing to shoes, to pajamas and even accessories, they truly are a one stop shop. Last week, the girls and I were invited to the H&M Showroom to preview their newest Studio Kids Collection for fall. Each year, H&M introduces an over the top collection for the littles, inspired by their H&M Studio women’s collection, as shown on the Paris runway during fashion week.

This limited-edition assortment features key looks and statement pieces incorporating a folkloric world of fantasy fashion. Enchanted influences run throughout the collection with inspirations derived from storybooks, such as Alice in Wonderland. Each dress encourages imaginary play with tiered rose printed tulle and lace trim bib front details. Volume is key throughout the assortment, seen in smocks with billowing sleeves, a poncho blouse, and the velvet cape with rich gold embroidery. To say the girls and I had a ball playing dress up might just be an understatement.

It was interesting to see just how much the womens collection actually resembled the children’s. In fact, I let the girls choose my outfit, which was hilarious because they picked out overstated dresses, for a super special occasion; certainly not my everyday wear. Check out the blue velour dress with silver stripe detailing. It was totally out of my comfort zone, but I sort of fell in love with it.

The collection doesn’t stop at clothing. Party kits including hats, tissues, cups, plates and the grab bag set are available in beautifully detailed lunch boxes that transcend playtime use to further the fairy-tale festivities. Accessories, inspired by the ballet and Wild Wild West include a beaded velour crown which Gemma flipped over, embroidered animal masks, and a functional ukulele.

Some of the pieces include winter essentials like this Wool Coat, worn by Siella. Special detailing includes bell sleeves, a faux fur collar and the double-breasted velvet coat with decorative trim.

Our day of dress up was so fun much. We laughed and joked the entire time, and I think this day will go down as one of our most favorite indoor summer memories for sure. This special collection of H&M Studio kids collection for will launch in select stores and online on September 8th!
