Look Inside Disney’s New Movie: Frozen

My kids and I had the opportunity of previewing the newest and latest Disney movie, Frozen coming to theaters November 27th. Thank you to The Moms for hosting such a wonderful Mamarazzi series. Frozen is an upcoming 3D animated musical fantasy/comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, and will be the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The film features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad.

The PG rated movie is based on two Princesses: Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell). Elsa has the ability to create snow and ice, yet has been suppressing these powers after a traumatic childhood incident involving her sister. After letting her  powers get out, she goes into hiding, only for her emotions to trigger a magical, eternal winter that freezes the whole kingdom of Arendelle in solid ice.

Elsa’s sister Anna, a fearless optimist, must journey to save her sister. She encounters an extreme mountain man Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), his reindeer sidekick Sven, and a comical snowman named Olaf (Josh Gad) along the way while trying to save their kingdom from eternal winter, and make things right with her sister before it’s too late.

The 3D movie starts out with a little bit of darkness and my kids were a bit frighten during a few parts. I think the 3D affect may add to it a bit. If you have a child that easily gets frightened, this may not be the movie for them. But once you make it through the darkness, a wonderful story is told. Ryder sat glued eyes wide open the entire time, something I wasn’t too sure about being a “princess” movie. But  overall, this modern day fairytale tells a beautiful story about sisterhood. Having a sister myself, and watching my two grow up, I was happy to see Disneys Frozen took a different take from the classics. The female characters proved to be fierce women, who did not need a man to save them. Overall, the kids enjoyed the movie as did I! Looking forward to hearing what you all think when it hits theaters just in time for Thanksgiving!
