Summer is coming to an end but there is still a lot of fun to be had. NYC is quieter than it’s ever been. With so many escaping north or out east, its an amazing time to discover our giant playground. New Yorkers are finding events and activities right in their backyard they had never discovered before. I have round up some local fun filled activities that are totally safe and will keep the whole family healthy!
Kayak On The East River
Enjoy the summer sun while on the East River! Starting August 19th enjoy free kayaking Wednesdays & Saturdays from Pier 4! Families of all ages are welcome but children under 18 years of age must have an adult guardian. Register in advance. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a great resource for family fun events and activities!
Ice Cream Classes
The Museum Of Ice Cream is hosting in person workshops. Visitors will learn the history of ice cream while also creating their very own flavor form scratch. The one hour workshop will leave you a certified scoop master. Safety is a top priority for MOIC and workshops are limited to 10 people, and masks are enforced!
Dine On An Aircraft Carrier
The Baylander Steel Beach is the newest summer hot spot. Located in upper manhattan off of 125th st, this small aircraft carrier makes for a great lunch or dinner date idea. The navy shipped was previously used during the Vietnam War. Enjoy lobster rolls, burgers, delicious cocktails, and more!
Experience NYC like never before! Ventura Sails offers private sail boat charters making for an amazing date idea! Offering a lunch, cocktail hour, and sunset cruise for both private or group charters. Food and drinks are included in charter options.
The Greens Rooftop At Pier 17
Pier 17 is offering safe rooftop fun! Reserve a “green” and enjoy food and drinks with up to 8 guest. Pier 17 will also be offering movie nights, live music, dj’s, and more. Check their updated calendar for upcoming events!
UES Ice Cream Shop
Cool down form the summer heat with an ice cream cone! UES offering soft serve and ice cream for all ages, and special spiked ice cream options for mom and dad! The shop has very hip and trendy speakeasy vibes and makes for a great summer outing and memory!

The Manhattan Park Pool is officially open! This makes for the perfect summer family day! Day passes and memberships are available to both Roosevelt Island residents and non-residents. Events also include aqua aerobics and yoga! Swim lessons are also available for all ages!
