It’s officially spring and the best part of a new season is getting to go shopping for spring clothes! My kids have fewer clothes once we get out of winter because they grow so quickly, so I’m doing some shopping around for wardrobe staple pieces over special occasions because these are the kids’ clothing items we need the most. Casual dresses, cargo shorts, a waterproof jacket and bright colors are all a variety of options for the changing seasons! Now that everyone is different sizes, we have to take inventory on the number of items that fit the kids and create a capsule wardrobe checklist to get some shopping done!
Here are our spring staples!
Sets
Firstly, I love to get my kids sets so they are easy to throw on before school and even camp next season. These can come in many forms and are not just sweat sets, although those are always great! I’ve found some great tee and skort sets, bike short sets and even legging sets, so I’m really excited to add those to my kids’ closets. But the most important thing is that you take the simple steps to make your lives easier. Get clothes that will make the getting ready process easier every day and are comfortable. Soft material will never go out of style!
Bright colors
Secondly, it’s spring so let’s get some color into our closets! I like to add this in a pop or in full. For instance, a bright dress or bright set is a fully colorful look. While colored jeans would add a pop of spring vibes. My girls love pink colored jeans and honestly, so do I! We are people who strive to bring color to the entire year in our closets, but spring and summertime are hands down our favorite palette colors out of the entire year.
Staple Pieces
Now, this has to be the most important category as it’s essential to grab capsule pieces. If you don’t know what a capsule wardrobe is, it basically means that your closet has items that will go with everything. For example, a white t-shirt and a great pair of jeans are both items that are incredibly versatile. These make getting dressed before school even quicker because they go with everything, so there’s never any questions about what matches and what looks good. Moreover, the best part is that these are wearable year round in any season!
Shoes
Finally, does anyone else’s kids outgrow shoes like weeds?! I swear they go up 2 shoe sizes each year it feels like. Even a half a size up is a lot, especially for sneakers. When it comes to spring, I like to grab each kid a new pair of sneakers so they can wear them and run around comfortably at school and after school activities. Neutral colors go with each outfit, but they tend to get dirty quicker. For example, white shoes last about 5 seconds in my house! Opt for black, grey or even purple instead!
